Music artists we're embarrased to like

Go on. Get it out. Tell everyone your embarrasing interest. We all, I'm sure, have a band or singer we secretly like but hate telling anyone. I'll proudly proclaim everything I like because, obviously, I like it and I think it makes me freaking rock to like things like Kiss and Queen and David Bowie. I have the best god damned music taste in the world!

But I never tell anyone but my closest friends that I -really- like TLC and Brandy. I do really like both of them, and I believe they're talented and I could listen to them for hours, but for the life of me I can't bring myself to tell people they're among my favourite music artists.

So whats yours? Britany? Kenny G?

Nikolas

Christina Aguilera!

She is one HOT Babe and actually her voice is far from bad. It's rather good. Furthermore she seems to have some kind of personality, unlike Breatney Spears.

Breatney Spears! I also enjoy some of her songs, as well as Madonnas!

Michael Jackson, everything before History is Amazing! Really great music, great production and everytime you see him collaborate with artists like Van Hallen, Slash, The Black Top Model (can't remember her name...)

Robie Williams. "Feel", what a great song!

And I also enjoy (wrong love!) KORN, TOOL, dEUS and all sort of hard stuff.

Satisfied, Kinoko? I just opened my heart to you. And I'm ashamed of me. I want to go hide in the loo!!!!! ;D

Kinoko

If it's any consolation, I adore MJ and he's not one of the ones I'm afraid to admit. I listen to Michael Jackson albums as loud as I feel I can get away with so all my neighbours know I got ry-them, baby.

Nikolas

Even the latest ones? I find it kinda repeatetive after a while, but opf course this is not the topic of this thread, but I couldn't help it, as I feel the MJ has to stop making music. It is getting rather boring.

Furthermore I would hate seeing him using the story with the child abuse towards his coming back on top... ;)

Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

That's so cute 'cause it makes me think of little baby Marge Simpson when another girl tells her they don't sig their own songs and she freaks out.

Nik: Well, I don't have his recent albums so I can't really answer that. Only a couple of tracks and yes, they are boring.

Nacho

Ok, ok... B... B... Bonnie Tyler...  :'(

Actually, I think I like most of that which people do not like to admit they do, but they do... Shakira, Chayanne... that sort of thigs. I actually separate the music into:

-Things to hear (I'd have in my Ipod, or cd...) So, beatles, Quee, U2...
-Things to dance (Or jump or play the fool...) Shakira, house music...
- And some sort of music I hear with a chill out attitude, just to have it there sounding while doing things... I.E. Fool's garden, Eagles, Don McLean... Maybe to relaxed for hearing but cool for having it there.

Shakira's a freaking babe. I loved her music AND her... everything else as soon as I first saw her. Pity her career kind of died.

Nacho

Eeeer... Dunno, but I think that she is more popular than ever. Maybe because she has just focused on latin public? Her latest record has an Spanish title, his single is in Spanish (with a famous spanish singer) and she is succeding in Latin grammies. So isn't she promoting "fijación oral" in the saxon world? I saw a big notice in Greece about it her latest record...
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Kinoko

Well, she's certainly dead in both Australia and Japan, I can't speak for other countries.

Nikolas

I think that this is the case for a lot of artists, who count their promotion, not on what their talenet but on other things. It seems that in order to have a long life in Show Buisness you must avoid over exposure (?) to the public. Otherwise they will get bored of you... :-[

Farlander: Really? I live in London, and haven't heard anything about her for over a year. Maybe the Brits only promote other Brits? Just a question....

Nacho

As far as I am seeing in this posts, and in my trips, Italy and Greece, she is promoting her records in the mediterranean countries, Latin America, and south of the USA, not sure about the whole USA. Dart, what about Canada? Eric, what about the East coast of the USA?
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Minimi

ok....ok... my like RelientK

Because:
- they rock
- they are cool
- they write awesome lyrics
- they compose superb music
- hey it's PUNKROCK!

Go check 'em out!

esper

RelientK? Aren't they the ones who sing the song about Lion-O from Thundercats?

Just to throw out my oddnesses and guilty pleasures:
--I love nostalgic themes from things like Transformers and GI Joe and Thundercats and He-Man... There used to be a radio station around here that played them on Sunday afternoon...
--I like Blackmore's Night. If you like the type of music you might hear at a rennaisance faire, check them out.
--I sometimes have been known to listen to JPop (Japanese popular music... I especially like game soundtracks)
--Alot of oldies. I like the Monkees, too, and Elvis, and the Beatles, and just about anything from the 50's and 60's.
--I like cowboy music... NOT country and western... bleghhh... I like Marty Robbins, the Sons of the Pioneers, Gene Autry, that type of stuff..
---I like alot of different cultural music (Irish, such as the clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, The Irish Tenors, etc.;African, like Ladysmith Black Mambazo; Italian, like some of the Rat Pack used to sing; anything Asian)

And the worst part is... I'm embarassed to listen to ANY of it in public... :o
This Space Left Blank Intentionally.

Kinoko

Ladysmith Black Mambazo rock! I used to listen to them with my mum when I was a kid.

Haddas

I don't know what these people are saying. La Tortura was a hit in Finland. Probably Sweden too.

Nine Toes

I can only think of 3:
Crazy Town - I loved their first album.  If you actually sit and listen to it, it's not really all that bad.
Jewel - Not all of her stuff is my cup of tea, but she has some good stuff.
Kelly Clarkson - Come on, you know you like her too.
Watch, I just killed this topic...

Darth Mandarb

Cher

There's just something about Cher that I love ... though, for some reason, if I admit it people immediately assume I'm gay.  Odd that.

And Shakira ... let's just say I hope she [soon] gets on an airplaine called "The Big Bopper" ...

Domino

I like Yanni, but i really don't tell many people that i do, because for some strange reason, people assume if you listen to Yanni, and you are a male, that you're gay. (well at least the people i know think this)

When i started playing Yanni CD's on my work computer, people looked at me like i was a little strange.

I like his music, plain & simple.
