Are you going? Because I am. I was going to write the schedule here but then heard they're starting from Helsinki - Finland and got excited. I'm so there.

Watch the press conference video here http://www.genesis-music.com/ . It's a 37 minute video.

We all know Genesis, just watch the beginning of the video. Ok, so the reunion will not be featuring Peter Gabriel (due to lack of time) nor Steve Hackett, just the 3 of them, the later pop era. But for me it's still a chance to see one of my favourite bands and 3 of my favourite artist live here in Finland with a bunch of old people. No new material, but they will be performing songs from the Gabriel are too. Hmm, yeah, they're also doing US shows later, not next year though. The first show, in Finland will be in June, just before the army for me  :D

God, first Jethro Tull, now Genesis. All I need is The Flower Kings and King Crimson and perhaps Rush now that they're making an album too \o/

Meh, the tickets are not for sale yet :P :P

That is awesome news. Phil, Tony and Mike back together again.

I saw Genesis back in 1992 in Syracuse NY, that was my first concert i ever went to and also my favorite concert of all time. Genesis is and will always be my favorite band.

I miss the good 'ol days though. Early stuff like Trick of the Tail, Abacab, Duke and even Invisible Touch.

Tuomas

You call that early stuff? they did 6 albums before Trick of the Tail.

No really...I don't like the pre phil collins stuff. sorry. Some of the early stuff when the band first started, i really don't care for. I mean some of it is good, i like watcher of the sky and trespass and the list goes on and on, but the early Genesis was not to my liking, going on stage with weird costumes and stuff like that.

Just my 2 cents.

rats, I meant The Knife, not Trespass. I was typing this really fast at work on my lunch. I hope it doesn't sound like a bunch of jibberish.

Rush are still going, I saw them on their 30th anniversary thing.
i used to be indeceisive but now im not so sure!

So hehey, the Tour starts tomorrow from Helsinki, and I'm there. So I will be one of the people first to see a huge band perform after a whole 20 years!

I dare expect something as brilliant as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_xSBtec47o since they kind of promised they'd play it, and have been training for 6 months now. THe only thing is, they booked a huge arena of 30 000 seats and couldn't sell out, so we'll see.

About that Rush you mentioned, I did buy the album, and I've already got tickets for their gig in Finland on October :)

One of my favourite groups, The Police, are reuniting as well... I guess 2007's the year for that sort of thing. Unfortunately, most Police shows get sold out. :P

Glad to hear that Genesis is reuniting; I've always been fond of any sort of progrock.
I'm composing the music for this game:

it's not peter gabriel though, so it's not properly prog rock.  :'(

My Bloody Valentine were supposed to reform too, weren't they?
That would rule.

Rush have their new album soon, so they'll probably tour too.
I saw them for their 30th anniversary tour, it was pretty cool.  :)

Experimental music is cool.

Genesis is coming to Buffalo in September. But i believe the show is sold out. I heard from a guy at work that good seats were going for over a hundred dollars.  Damn wish i could be there.

That is ALMOST great news (it would have been great if Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett had been included). So, is it going to be just the three of them, or are they going to have some additional musicians? (since, as we all know, after Gabriel's departure Phil took over the lead vocal and drums were often played by someone else).
Also, speaking of reunions, it would be sooooooooooooo great to have Anthony Phillips back in the band...
None shall pass!

On a completely different note....will anyone trade me their Peter Gabrial nosebleed section ticket for this lousy Genesis Backstage Pass?

well, believe me, this consert was worth it. I think more than a half of the songs were from the 70's, and thusly very awesome, and the guys played really well, no signs of getting old. I recommend sincerely that you go and quickly buy the last ticket to your local consert. We had bloody 30,000+ spectators and I was in the bloody front row. The atmosphere was wonderful!
