Alright if this is the wrong place to post progress of a game I am building tell me now cause I am unfamliar to all the rules of the forum.

So I want to track the progress and share the developement across the lifetime of the project. Not too secretive here. I've never made an adventure style game or used AGS. But I'm a quick learner. I've scanned over the editor slightly but have a long way to go to get the hang of everything. I'm open to any suggestions or criticisms or questions.

I'm getting to it, can't make a game in a day, I'm just trying to put some foundation down first.

First thing I'm doing is making some 1st pass buttons to use to be able to put some gui and a Title screen together with. I basically just reffered to the buttons provided for in AGS. These will probably change but its a starting point.

Yes, this atually IS a WRONG forum to post things like game process. Can you read ? Does "AGS Games In Production" sound familiar ? No ? That's bad.

The thing that you are "unfamiliar with all the forum rules is absolutely silly.
You say you are open to questions. So I ask:
Can't you just READ them ? Is it so much to ask ?

No offence, but I simply can't stand people like you. They're just posting threads everyday. Threads about nothing. In wrong forums. Against the rules. Because they are too lazy to read the rules and too unpatient to "show us their work", when they have actually ZERO work at all.

Word of advice:
Don't try to make your dream game as your first game. Make one, if not several small* test games to learn how the editor works. *Small is the key here. Overambition leads to underproductiveness and unfinished products.
Keep playing around until you think you have a good understanding to make the game you want to make. Play some other AGS games to see what they did wrong and what they did right.

That's just my opinion based off my own experience. However, you say you have designed other games before so I guess you might know what you're doing.

Neutrino-pop

Actually the games in progress threads requires two in game screens and I'm not that far into the process yet. I am still developing a story and art not putting the game together yet. Why is this so difficult? I just wanted to track and share the progress of this project here with everyone interested.

Oliwerko

Yeah, but the two screenshot rule is there for some reason.
I have nothing against sharing the progress. But:

1. You probably don't want to share all game parts, because of the surprise of the finished game.

2. Share your progress, when you know it'll continue. I mean, when you've got some work done and it's 100% that you'll continue.

Okay ...

Everybody calm down and take a deep breath.

Neutrino - this is the general discussion board.  While that name can be a bit misleading, it isn't really for stuff dealing with games/adventures.  It's more for stuff not dealing with that.

You have a lot of enthusiasm, which is great, but 'round these parts you need to stick around awhile and "prove" yourself before most are going to be willing to jump on board to help out.  There is a "Games in Production" board for posting stuff about games being worked on.  However, you really must adhere to the rules in there or the psycho that moderates it will come down on you ;)

This is a good place to frequent ... but we can be a tough shell to crack for n00bs.  Stick around, enter a few competitions, put together a small "starter" game, learn, grow, etc.

Oh yeah ... Just some advice; when a moderator locks your thread, don't open a new one about the same thing ;)

Best of luck!

My advice would be to read through a HUGE pile of tutorials and start practicing. When you have problems, go to Crit lounge. When you have progress go to games in production.

Practice makes perfect.

-Sorry for that first post, I kinda got carried away, because I HATE when the rules aren't followed.  ;)

Neutrino-pop

alright will start a thread in games progress when I am that far along. Sorry,  not trying to be annoying at all. But I would like to make a suggestion that the forum maybe consider (unless you already have) opening a pre-production section for young projects to be shared. Like story and art concepts not just final game shots.

Oliwerko

*cough* Critics longe is ideal for posting game ideas for C&C *cough*

But it isn't exactly that "track" thread of a particular game. You're right there. But as I said - you don't want to put away all details of the game before it's released,
do you ?

You can notice that many people have several threads in crit lounge on story, BG, or something like that. I don't see a big point in tracking a pre-production game.

If you want people to your team, there are forums on that purpose also.

Darth Mandarb

There is a thread; Recruit a Team, for posting ideas and seeing if anybody is interested in joining your team.  We've discussed it in depth before and we can't have every person that is looking for help posting a new thread about it.  If you have an idea that you'd like to talk about, you can use the Adventure Related Chat & Talk board.  But for posting some stuff you've done and requesting help, use the first thread I linked to.  It's really where this belongs :)

Welcome to the boards Neuty-P.
This is a friendly place really.  But some people get wound up more easily than others.

If you really want to track the progress of your game from an early stage how about setting up a little Geocities webpage, or maybe a blog.  Then you could have a link to that blog as your Signature on these here AGS boards.

Read the forum rules. If you can't find them, here's a tip - one of the boards in this forum is called "Games in Production". Another tip - there's a thread called "Recruit a team - need help with your game?"

Sure beats posting basically the same thing twice in a row.
