I remember when I was little, there was this adventure game.
It had 256 colour graphics and was low res.
All I really remember was the Russian theme. It was like medieval Russia, or some Eastern Country from that neck of the woods.
I had a shareware version, but lets see...
The main character was blonde, I remember a house, with a well, but one of the main puzzles was getting into the King's Castle for some reason. I remember there was a white horse in the King's Stables, then you got a letter from the King's Daughter? I tihnk you could pick up an egg at some point. I think it was possible to lose, as I remember having to start again because I didnt get the shovel(?) from the garden with the well.
Does anyone vaguely remember this game? I'd love to play it again, since it was the first adventure game I ever played. Sorry for my incoherent description, but thats really all I remember, and I don't know enough to google it.
Nope. Nobody pwns that adventure game. :=
I've never played such a game. Sounds...exciting.
Hey monkey0506, if I'd wanted your brand of advice I would've sent one of those chain letters you love so much. ;)
It may not have been Russia, it may have been Serbia or perhaps India, although the player character and most other characters were white.
Oh but it was in English.
could it be Heart of China?
I think there was a game called little red adventure or something like that...
there is no game that takes place in Serbia(only few levels in some FPS but that is not a real game) esspecially not an adventure. We know cause we are from Serbia. And we played a lot of old games we will check our brain for your game. But it's story was not based in Serbia
good luck
and farlander it's Big red adventure but the story of that game takes place in Stalin-Lenin Russia or cold war period sure not what mr.fibble is searching for

I never played Heart of China, but Rise of the Dargon, which was in the same vein, was really good in my opinion. Plus, the Sega CD (Mega CD) version had full speech.
You know its funny what you remember as soon as you get a hint to start from.
I read Bisquit on the link and I was plunged into a well of nostalgia.
Of course, by this stage I was hoping the game would be up on underdogs or something but six pounds sterling isn't too bad a price.

I must defend a game that brings nothing but fond memories. In my opinion Heart of China was quite enjoyable, far surpassing modern, so called adventures like Still Life and Syberia. The plot and characters were nice, very much in the Indiana Jones, high adventure vein. The interface was innovative and simple to use (the same one was used in Rise of the Dragon). It had multiple paths/puzzle solutions, beautiful graphics (using modified digital imagery on painted backgrounds) and several decent (and SKIPPABLE!) arcade sequences including driving a tank in vector graphics and fighting on top of a moving train.
