Title: NaNoWriMo '10
Post by: Stupot on Wed 27/10/2010 11:50:15
[deja vu]

"It's that time of year again.
Is anybody going to be attempting it this year?

For anybody who doesn't know NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month and is held from November 1st - 30th and the idea is for participants to try to write a novel (well 50,000 words) in that space of time.

It's a great creative exercise though and I reckon we should all have a go and talk about it in this thread.

I'm signed up..and I'm pretty sure that I'll have my entry completed on 01 November 2010. If I don't then it's because I'm working that day, but I'll definitely have it up by the 2nd.

Edit: And no, I'm not cheating. I read every one of the rules and am in full compliance. :=

Either you're a damn quick typist or you've found a loophole   :-\

November already.....   :-\
I usually give this a shot, although I've yet to break the 30K word mark by the 30th.  Some writers are eekers, others gushers -that's just the way of the world.  I don't think I'll find the time this year, but I will be following all your progress with eager eyes.  Good Luck!

No-one else playing?
I'm gonna give it a shot.  But I don't intend on reaching anywhere near 50,000.

Man, this must be the 10th year this comes and I'd love to attend again. Why does it always have to be on November. It's easily the busiest month in a Finnish students year. I'm going to have to fade out again :(

To be honest I don't understand the appeal of this contest. After a month of writing like this my mind would probably turn into a tabula rasa.

But perhaps that's because I'm not that keen on writing a novel in general. Can someone who participated in past editions tell me their impressions?

One day I'll make it!

November is just my busiest month of the year, I once tried to do it on a different month on my one, but I failed that one too.  :-[ I need to practice more. But someday... ;)

No, I have to skip this year too unfortunately. I wish all who are entering good luck!

That's my page if anyone's interested. I figure I should tell you all I'm in as motivation to finish, since I'd likely quit if nothing was riding on it.

I started writing my entry but it's progressing crazy slow so I doubt I'll actually get the 50 000 required words done. But I'm sure it will be fun to try. :D

I'm already way, behind... but I'm not expecting to reach the target anyway, so this is just a bit of fun.

Did not plan to, but last night my housemate's latenight/early morning shenanigans prevented me from getting any sleep so I started. A shade under a thousand words... but all spent rambling over why a castle got its particular name. If I write 50 000 words they will all be gibberish..

Like I said, I didn't technically cheat. I followed all of the rules to the letter.

So you just wrote "The End." over and over? You silly, silly monkey.

I loathe you monkey. Even if you didn't technically cheat, in my eyes you're still just a filthy cheater. I don't even have 2000 words yet and I'm struggling... :(

Stupidest thing ever.

It says you can't post one word 50000 times. So I posted two words 50000 times. I actually tried for a million words but it kept breaking the website! :=

I didn't really do this for the sake of saying I'm a NaNoWriMo winner. I know I'm far too busy to really enter a better formed entry than this. It's just an idea I've been sitting on for some time to write this story, so this seemed like a good opportunity.

No hard feelings intended.
