Guys, I've abandoned AGS for at least good reason, and here is why:

Last year I spammed the forums with this game called Skyrates that some of the people at my university made, and now it's time to talk about a game where I was involved:

I've been working this whole semester with a group of people on this crazy new kind of "online web game" we called Bandology where people get together, form bands and travel around the world playing in gigs.

But there is more than that, because the real experiment is that we are trying to connect the typical Bejeweled-playing casual player with the "hardcore" gamers so that they play their own way but still play together. So, one side mostly plays casual games while the other has this sort of fantasy band management/final fantasy-like RPG experience.

Anyway, the time has come for what we call "beta 1" which means that during the summer we are going to let it go, keep it running, and see what happens. In the meantime, we'll be working on making the game a lot better (it really needs it) based on what happens during the next few months but as of now, here it is for everyone to digest and destroy.

I'm actually pretty terrified to show it at you guys, but we would all really appreciate the input. So, please, if you got some time try it out and I hope you enjoy it!

(I'm usually online in the game. My character's name is Mundito. Also, feel free to form AGS-named bands like The Bluecups or The American Girl Scouts ;))

This looks pretty awesome, at first look that is. I can't wait to try it out. But unfortunately I'll have to wait for 2-3 weeks before I can squeeze time for such.

I am finding this very amusing indeed.

A very interesting concept - merging the core and casual gamers together. I can be a bit of both at times, so this appeals to me very much.

Good work on a good concept! The minigames are typical of what I've seem online, but they work. The "battling the audience" notion is an interesting way of doing things.

So far I've put a couple of hours in, played a few "gigs" etc. It works pretty smoothly and has been great fun.

Good stuff.

Thanks for posting this! It's great fun, and I'll probably get some of my friends to join it.

Are you going to eventually take this game down, or is it going to be on the internet forever?

There's no plans to take the game down, ever. It might go down in case the game crashes and stuff, but we are definitely trying to keep this going. Another thing that you should know is that the game will probably change, but for the better, though! :)

Great! However, I think that the game probably could use more stat-earning minigames, as they get very monotonous after a while. The game also needs sound (especially during the gigs)- it's really bland without it- but the concept is great, and I think this game could become an internet phenomena (in time).
