I got this from GameHippo.com and it has no virus. I played this and its EXACTLY the same! Everything from the NES.

I remembered it crashed in my computer when I tried it years ago, so I baleted it.

Anyway, I don't think this post is that adventure-related to be in here.

Why? Zelda IS a adventure game. I think it should be there.

It's an RPG.

I wonder if you've heard of NES ROMs? You can play any NES game on your computer, if you can find the proper quasi-legal sites.
Once I killed a man. His name was Mario, I think. His brother Luigi was upset at first, but adamant to continue on the adventure that they started together.

I have heard of NES ROMs and I own a TON of them. I will never have to get out the console again!

But I am doing something illegal. Some roms are hard to find because of the damn ISDA! DAMN YOU ISDA! I wanted Maximum Carnage for my SNES emulator!

Sam.

ah, to be a computer crimes investigator right now. I would have your ass. Seriously, im not saying don't do it, its your choice but don't force you ILLEGAL practices upon us. (i'm not saying i don't do it but do you see me openly informing an entire community where one member could be a CCI?) sorry for the rant. its early
Bye bye thankyou I love you.

Only if you haven't bought the originals.

But of course, who checks for that? I used to have about 30 Mega Drive games, legally bought, which have gone who knows where... and who's to tell you, or any investigator out there, that I haven't about 300 ROMS right now?

I think the discussion's a bit off topic now, and I think we shouldn't bring up that tough argument of whether downloading a ROM is legal and the like to this forum, you can actually discuss about it in some other more suitable places.

True, true. Let's get back on topic, then - I downloaded this one, and if there's anyone like me out there (i.e., never heard of Zelda, would like to try it, heard it's a classic), here's advice for you after having played it - it's a classic the way ROGUE is a classic. But right now, ROGUE is disappointing compared to, say, ADOM, Get the point? You're better off playing "The Story of Thor".

Yeah. It's pretty great. It's been around for a few years now. I think if you load the custom quest "1st.qst" you can play a version of the game with updated SNES graphics. It also comes with an editor so you can make new quests with it.

Wasn't Zelda largely inspired by the original "Adventure?" So does that technically make it an adventure game, even though it has little in common with the Sierra/LucasArts games commonly associated with the genre?

Well, ROMS are illegal

roms are NOT elegal. They are elegal as long as you don't own the original game cartridge.
They are ment to be a personal backupcopy of your games (don't ask me why. If my cartridge broke I can't use the rom on my GBA or SNES).

This was discussed in another topic (the Breakdown XBOX one I think), but the back-up copy rules apparently don't apply to ROM cartridges.

ROMs are illegal, yes, but investigators generally don't waste time with some pissy under-25-year old downloading ROMs. They're generally more interested in mass distributors of warez.

Not sure if this is on topic or off but I have a cd for the dreamcast with 100's of old atari, nes, and sega games on it. One of the games is Kings quest V for nes I believe. I was shocked when I found it. I'll try to take a couple pics of the game tonight and post them here tomorrow. Maybe others knew this existed but it was a surprise to me.
