my pc just rejects to work with firefox and icq.
outlook and ie work fine.   :-\

when i try to load a page with firefox an error message appears, like:
"the connection was refused when attempting to contact www.mozilla.org"

icq says i should connect to the internet..

you've got any ideas?

Do you have a firewall running? Because it sounds like the kind of problem you get when you don't have admin access to your firewall and it just blocks programs from accessing the internet.

Norton's will let you choose whether or not a program is allowed access if you are logged in as an admin. I'm not sure about others, because I haven't really used them.

dasjoe

right! got it working.

i've recently uninstalled zonealarm.. seems like za doesn't like to be uninstalled, it launched some files while the pc was booting. when i deleted these files i was redirected to a zonealarm-site, which was saying that a hacker had taken over my computer and shutdown my firewall and because of that za has locked my internet access.

*grmpf*

To avoid opening a new thread, I'll just hijack this one.

I just wanted to recommend the ImageZoomer extension
to all Firefox users who don't use it already.
An extremly helpful tool, especially for the Critic's Lounge.

Hehe though I'll just recommend Opera, it has EVERYTHING I want.
