Title: New band!
Post by: [Cameron] on Sun 30/08/2009 11:49:04
Hey guys,
While back I posted a link to my old band, and I got some good comments about it, which I really appreciated. So anyway, that band is done for, and we've started a new one by the name of The Universal, only one song is up at the moment, and it's a much different sound to the old band.
Anyway, hoping you could give it a listen, let me know what you think, or just enjoy listening to it.

Enjoy
-Cameron

EDIT: Just letting you guys know we've got 3 new tracks up, we've been gigging quite a bit, so all this stuff is crowd tested and approved. I hope you all have a listen and enjoy it.

I could only listen to the first ten or so seconds, because I've got horrible dial-up, but what I heard sounded good. ;)

Sounds cool.

Dont suppose you have the master tracks for the song on myspace do you?

I like the track but i think the mix is pretty poor and its not bringing out the anthemic nature of the track.

I'd be happy to remix it for you if youd like.

The mix isn't ideal, but I (unexpectedly) really enjoyed the song. Good luck with it!

...sounds like Coldplay in the begining then kinda turns to Radiohead and the chorus is a mix of Radiohead and Kings of Leon...don't know if that's all a good thing or not. Maybe beacuse of the lyrics, but it reminds me of a more guitar and rock version of Radiohead's No suprises.

It's not bad but maybe with some additional remixing with like pianos and such it'll be a bit more distinctive (though that's just my taste not really any constructive comment). With a bit of different mixing it'd definetly be a notch better though. The acoustic is maybe too dominant when the solo guitar comes in etc. Just a bit of producer guidance, that's all you'd need really.

Bottom line, you're still begining so definetly a thumbs up for creating something like that in a short time (my "band" took a lot longer to actually come up with something this cohesive ;D), all in all to me it does sound really good.

p.s. I love the cd cover type art

I'm glad people like it. I know the mix isnt ideal, but it's our first demo. And it was only a demo, we didnt studio record this, so we're kinda working with more raw material :P but the mix is constantly being revised.
It's also being mixed by another person outside of the band, who we've known for a while and recorded our previous bands stuff with. So we'll see how that turns out.
And I can't say I'm unhappy with Radiohead comparisons :D

I'll be honest i dont really see the RH comparison.. perhaps you might be able to compare it to some stuff from the bends but its still pretty tenuous.

My offer to remix will remain open.. i sometimes tech for a studio in nottingham so i'd see if i could get some free desk time. they have some real killer gear

Dragging this thread up a bit, but thought it better to put a reply in than start a new thread.
Just letting you guys know we've got 3 new tracks up, we've been gigging quite a bit, so all this stuff is crowd tested and approved.
I'm quite pleased with our progress and our crowds are getting larger, so things seem to be well.
I hope you all have a listen and enjoy it.

I like these tracks although my computer hates myspace apparently (will only let me listen to the first 50 secs or so).
I like the raw feel to this ... Just the vocals need to be evened out, like Calin said

Is anyone else getting a little scent of the RHCP here mmmm
RHCP + Kings of Leon + Coldplay  defo
I like it   Thumbs up

Sometimes is kinda Arctic Monkeys + Jack White hmmmm
