New competition idea!

I really wonder why I haven't thought about this before. I got a cool idea for a Cartoon/Comic competition for the Competitions & Activities section. The rules would be same kind of like all the contests there. Different theme every time (last winner decides) and about 2 weeks deadline would sound good.

Now what I'm asking is that are there enough people who would find this interesting, and would it be good enough to put in the Competitions forum.

Couldn't resist ;)

Andail

Could you elaborate?
Will each contestant draw their own comicstrip? Will they continue on eachother's, or each draw a new one? Will they be humourous, with punchlines, or adventurous? Will the contestants come up with the script, the graphics, or both? Will they be ags-oriented or not?

A comic competition is not a bad idea, but atm we have so many competitions running that we must be sure the new ideas are thought through and likely to get some attention.

I'm sorry. I wrote that first post pretty fast so it may not be very clear.

Yes.

Well, that all really depends on the current theme of the contest. As an example if the theme is christmas, then you of course have to draw a comic related to christmas. And the one who makes the rules can decide all the other details like "The maincharacter of the comic must be santaclaus" or "It must be somehow related to Monkey Island".

Of course there can be sometimes that the script is already made and the contestants just need to draw it, but I think it would be much more fun if they came up with it theirselves, following the theme and rules.

And for the AGS-oriented question, that also depends on the current rules.

So all and all this is pretty much alike MAGS for its rules.

No.
To Which one?

Ubel

Oops sorry, mistake. Corrected it. :P Everyone will draw a new one.

..

K.  Sounds good anyways, I might even enter!

When I read the first post for the first time, before Andails reply, the idea didn't light me up, but now... I like the idea :) I imagined that you meant like what you have now elaborated, but... ah, whatever. Let's try it.
I used to make games but then I took an IRC in the knee.

Hmmm let's wait for more members to reply and see if they're interested, that's why I suggested Pablo to post this thread here.

InCreator

I like it.
Yes, creative freedom will always do good at competitions.
Less rules, more entries.

Gilbert

[plug]Hehe, enter Artitude then.[/plug]

Is there really nobody else who's interested in drawing comics? :-\

Quite interested actually.  I only now saw the thread because I don't usually watch the General Discussion.

An interested person is me!
And I bet Eggie'll like the idea, too.

Haddas

Aye Aye sir. Interesting indeed.

Kweepa

I might give it a try occasionally, sure.
I'd like to see some of the results too.

Mr Flibble

Sounds like a good idea.
It gets my vote.

Well this isn't a referendum or anything, but if it was, then I would out my cross next to this box.
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

Darth Mandarb

I would definitely enter (from time to time) a competition for comic strips!

My only set-back is finding the time to devote to it ... but still, it would be fun.

Gilbert

Seems that quite an amount of people showed interest, so I'll say just go for it and try starting it in the competion forum.

Tiki

Intriguing.

If my fancy schedule allows it, I'd be wanting to enter, too.
