Okay I havent posted in about 6 months, But I ran into a question and promptly thought of the good people here.

You see I'm looking for a pen tablet for drawings, backgrounds, and anything else the voices in my head request. But I know close to nothing about them. So i was wondering if anyone here can suggest one in the $200-$300 price range that will be worth a damn.

some things i really would like is
A fair size so it doesnt feel like drawing on a playing card.
and pressure sensitive ( I dont know if that is standard or not)

Thanks for the help in advance
Chris

Heh, feels like we get a "Which tablet should I get?" thread in here every other week.

For 300 USD I'd go for a Wacom Intuos 3, 6x8 inches.  I have a smaller tablet than that, and 6x8 sounds about the ideal size.  I've used an A4 wacom before, and it's too big.  Your hand just gets tired faster, it doesn't give you any noticable increase in precision.

If you're willing to spend that amount of money you're definately going to be wanting a Wacom.  A size lower, or the budget model the Graphire might suit you as well, if you want to spend a bit less.

Of course pressure sensitivity is standard on all graphics tablets, Intuos tablets also have tilt sensitivity, and twice the levels of pressure sensitivity of the cheaper tablets.  A graphire is pretty good... I'm happy with mine, but the Intous is the "pro" wacom.

I've used several types and Wacom's are the most versitile and last the longest. Most of them work the same, but cheaper models may not have pressure sensitivity. Aipteks are aweful.

Well, just for the record, my brother animates for a living and uses the smaller-than-Intuos Wacom Graphire 3 and does just fine. I use a Graphire 2 and do alright.

But yeah, an Intuos might be nice.
