Title: NOMINATION OPEN (AGS Awards 2006)
Post by: SSH on Mon 15/01/2007 11:13:11
The nominations process for the AGS Awards has begun, you have 2 weeks from now to get your nominations in. Please note, you can only submit the form once, so please put all your noms in before hitting Submit. Also, for categories like "Best character", please mention which game the character is from and which character in that game.

Submit your nominations for the AGS Awards 2006 here (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/awards.php?action=nominate)

After the nominations have closed, I will announce the top 5 in each category and then the final vote will ensue. While it is not required to play every game released in 2006 to nominate, it would be good if you had played quite a few before you put in your submissions, and ideally people could play all the final nominees before they choose their final vote in a category.

I got this message after I submited the games:

Notice: Undefined variable: REMOTE_ADDR in /var/www/vhosts/adventuregamestudio.co.uk/httpdocs/awards.php on line 325

Does it mean anytihing?

On another thing, I almost confused Al emmo the commerical game, with El Ammo the joke game, which could potentially be aw bad thing. Just something that you need to be careful off... :)

I got the same. Did it record my entry or should I repeat it?

Yes, guys, your entries were submitted OK. Don't worry about that error, but I'll give CJ a slap and get him to fix it.

Yay!  Glad to see this underway.  I hope CJ will put a little notification on the top of the page so people like me whose eyes skip right over the stickied threads will be sure to notice.

Also, for some reason I thought the innovation award was to be an open nomination with a committee final selection.  I'm not sure where (or if) I read this, but I take it that this is not the case.

I'm looking forward to taking the time to compile my nominations tomorrow!

Yup, I've asked CJ to put a top-of-forum banner about the noms, so hopefully that will occur soon, Vince.

This ought to be fixed now. Please let us know if it's still happening for anyone.

Thanks for fixing that AGA, I've uploaded a permanent fix now.

By the way, I'm un-stickying this thread because I completely missed it too at first. We'll leave it un-stickied for a few days to make sure people notice it, then sticky it so it doesn't get lost.

The Heist is still missing from the list?

Do you have to spell/punctuate the game exactly as it appears in the database? I might have spelled one thing wrong.

No, I'll sort out any spelling mistakes, dont worry, and I'm assuming any votes for El Ammo as best game are actually for Al Emmo...

No no no! You have to spell each game correctly, and spell the author's name correctly, and must also correctly guess their age, mother's maiden name, and social security number, or your vote won't count. It's the only way to have a fair election :)

Who said it is going to be a fair election? I think this could be the year for Princess Marian games to finally get some recoginiton...  :=

I'd just like to emphasise that you don't have to choose 10 games in each category or nominate in each category. If you've played just one game, and you thought it had outstanding backgrounds, then its valid just to put one vote in that category, for example. However, you only get one shot at nominations, so if you're planning to play more games in the next few days, better to play and then vote.

Is there a list somewhere of all the games that are eligible?  I can't remember everything I've played, and I have no idea which ones are from this year.

*Edit* Ok, I found the link, but my stupid firewall won't let me view it.  Would anyone be so kind as to post the list of the eligible games or at least message me with it?

Thanks!

SO many games?
And I was just wondering is there anything to nominate at all?

Jeesh, gotta start playing.

Hopefully when the nominations are announced, I will make a download of all the major games (or the demos thereof for any commercial games nominated) in one handy lump available. This will not include the Al Emmo demo, if it gets nominated for anything, which is about 250M on its own, but current indications look like the non-Al pack would be around 280M. It also will not include the booby-prize games which you're invited to suffer at your leisure. Hopefully we can make the download available by torrent.

Wow.  I just realized that I really need to get a life!  I've played almost every game on the list!  Actually what I need to do is actually start doing my job and stop screwing playing AGS games all day.... nah.
