Paper Carnival

I've been writing this song for a few days and it's my first completely serious attempt at writing a full length song. I have only written the music so far and I think I'm satisfied with it.

However, I can't sing. I can mess with my voice, almost completely remove background noise generated thanks to my crappy microphone and soundcard, but I just don't sound right. So the absent of vocals will explain the repetitititititititiveness sometimes. And I also noticed that it's "buzzing" a lot when I don't listen to it with headphones, so I hope it's just my crappy motherboard soundcard/ cheap speakers

Oh right, the link: http://www.purevolume.com/theodoxy

So what do you think? Any suggestions?

LGM

Well.. Usually metal doesn't involve actual singing, just ear-piercing screaming or growling... So I think you're safe.

Umm, the music isn't actually half bad, but it doesn't sound full. As for the singing... Just try it.

Here's a song I made on the fly without any preparation: http://www.lilgryphmaster.com/temp/jackie.mp3

I was playing with my guitar and microphone when my dog came in and started jumping on my nightstand.. So I wrote a song about it. (I knew I would find a chance to post this somewhere.
You. Me. Denny's.

Not so bad, GP. I wonder did you record everything (except those automatic drums and keyboards) on live instruments? Speaking of guitar, I can't hear any bass. . . :)

Anyway, I like this piece, but something is wrong when it comes to 1:25 and some weird sound appears in the background (something, which sounds like a muted robotic voice). And yes, it's a bit repetitive. ;D

As well I don't understand the one thing: Do you wanna play death metal with Christian lyrics? ;)

What about your song, [lgm] -- it's nice blues tune, I like it. ;)

[lgm]:
I guess I'll improve along the way through experience. Your song was good, but are you surfe you're not being mean to your dog?

Scurwy:
I'm not sure what you mean with the muted robotic voice. At that time another guitar enters, panned mostly on the right. Maybe there's something wrong with your right stereo channel or something :P

Actually there is some bass but it's not loud enough I suppose. I found all the samples online at www.hammersounds.net (not that I couldn't record the guitar) and I used audio editing software and a lot of plugins to modify and improve them. I used Fruity Loops for the composition. The bass frequencies were increased for almost all instruments, and putting more bass sounded worse

As for the lyrics... It's possible to have christian themed lyrics with metal that aren't satanic, check www.desolation-online.de for example

Thank you both for your time and comments ;D

Hmm. . . ok, but by the way, I can see some nonsense of playing Christian DEATH / BLACK metal. Both adjectives have pejorative meaning. On the other hand, I heard about an "unblack" or "white" metal not so long ago. Anyway, even though I no longer listen to metal (since a year), I'm still having some weird memories about guys who wear corpse-paints, nails or bullets around their belts and singing about God. It's funny.

It's just my point of view and it doesn't relate to your project. Good luck with that! ;)

Guybrush, I love this tune! Congratulations!

It doesn't actually even need lyrics!

Thanks :-[, but I'll try again to put the vocals too. I want to wait until everyone is away, because I don't want my family to hear me growling like I've got something stuck in my throat
