It seems it is allways me who gives the bad news...  :-\

Ollie Johnson, the last of the magnificent group of 9 Disney's animators, died on April 14th, aged 95. His death is a great failure for the world of the cartoon and also the end of an era.

Some of you won't probably care, but I liked the guy... the relation he kept with Frank Thomas till his death in 2004 was funny... A good person and a great artist leaves us. At least he had a long and productive live!

Rest in peace, Ollie!

Yeah, I heard. Damn shame :/. But then again, to have lived such a long and great life, and to leave such a legacy... Not a bad thing at all, in the end :).

RIP sir. I like the name Ollie.

It really sucks that good people have to leave this earth, no matter what age they are.

The end of an era for sure ... now that it's all done with computers especially.

I will mourn the loss, but celebrate the life.  I hope I make it that long!

So long Ollie.

"Failure?" Was their ambition to keep him alive forever? :)
Anyhow...yeah a big loss. My favourite artist was Carl Barks, of course. Without him, Donald Duck would have been absolutely worthless.

edit:
Eh, of course, Barks wasn't an animator, just thought I should mention him up there...

Lol... A big loss. Sorry for the goofe.

As usual, I won' t edit the post for joy of further generations...  ;D

Has anyone seen the documetary "Frank and Ollie"? It was great to see videos of them using a mirror to put live into the cartoons, to dance, to jump... They were more actors and directos than animators, actually. And Ollie still kept the pencil which was Bamby and Baloo "father".

Still, long life and great legacy... More an aspect and live than a tragedy, but death still sucks.  :-X
