Hi Peeps.

On my new comp I did a general search for 'Pictures and Photos' (using all of the 'More advanced options')  and was supprised to find
a shed load of things that pointed to a 'Res' folder (or things that had res in the line).

I am confussed. My last comp never gave me all of these 'res' results. ???

All of my pics and photos that I have appear as do all pics of games and programs I have installed.
I just don't understand this 'Res' thing as you can't do anything with them (View them or anything else).

Is this normal or have I got a problem with my new comp?

Thanks.
Jay.

Hi TerranRich.

Well on alot of the files it just says 'res/commandimagelist/'.
However... There are alot of files that start differently but have 'res' in the line somewhere. ???

I don't know if this helps?

First of all, is it a Mac or Windows computer?

If Windows, where exactly is this folder? Is it something like "C:\Windows\res"?

It's a Windows comp.

I also have more info now.

I just found some 'res' folders that say there located within the (Archive Root Directory). This is all it says. I can't find the location through windows explorer.
Also there are other 'res' folders to do with other locations aswell.
I haven't done anything with them. I guess they should be there then. ;)

There are just so many of them.
I never got all these results on my last comp.

Sorry if I have wasted your time. But thankyou for your help.

Jay.

They're probably to do with Windows restore points. Like, system backups. You might be able to change your OS settings if they're taking up too much space.

Googling 'res/commandimagelist/' brought up a crap load of references to Open Office. Looks like a bunch of icons. I don't believe it is tied specifically to Open Office itself, but perhaps a open library of icons used in several software packages.

BTW, which Windows OS? XP, Vista, 7?

EDIT: A little more googling reveals that these are most likely resource packages. They will most likely contain images, which is why they are showing up on a picture search I guess. That is assuming that you mean they have a ".res" extension. There may be a chance that for some reason the search tool is returning results from within these packages, accounting for the large number and inability to find an actual location.

Hi there Juncmodule.

Sorry it's taken me ages to get back to you. I have been away for a while with no access to a comp.

My O.S. Is windows XP Home.

Yes. I do have 'Open office' on my comp.
Also I don't know if this helps but when I run a search for 'pictures, Music or videos'
I check the 'Pictures and photos' area but leave the other areas blank (Including the type in areas).
Also I check all of the 'advanced Features'.

Is this where I am going wrong?
However I used to do the same on my last comp and I never got all of the 'res' results.

Thank you all for your help.

Jay.
