Anyone had a play around with this cool program before?

World Wind
http://learn.arc.nasa.gov/worldwind/

it's really only for broadband users as you need a highspeed connection to use it and the program to download is about 260MB, but It's pretty cool, you can pretty much zoom into anywhere on the earth and get pretty close too.

I just had a little muck around with it to see if I could find my house, I could get close but it was a bit too pixelly.

This one is pretty much the Sydney area

This one is zoomed in more to Sydney Harbour, you can see the Harbour Bridge and Opera house around the centre of the pic

I live near the bottom left corner of this one, and I'd love to live near the top right corner, maybe one day.

I reduced the size and quality of the pics to fit in the post.

Well worth the download if you are interested in geography and maps stalking

feel free to post your city

an overview of portsmouth and surrounding area thingy..

I live 11 miles north of Portsmouth but my village is too small and insignificant to get a good picture of it :P

I can't install it... someone can look Benidorm for me? It's at the East of Spain, like 150 kms. south of Valenia.

Here it is... the red line is over the two main avenues, it was an old national road, like 30 years ago, and marked the old limits of the town. Now thatÃ,  road mark the centre... The national road is outside the town now.

The blue line is the town, if we mean "town" as buildings... the cottages and residentials are spread all over the photo and cover like 15 kms of coast, from "Altea" to "La Vila Joiosa"... pretty unfair with the nature, if you ask me...Ã,  :P

In my town live like 60,000 people, but it is said it reaches 500,000 during high season. 250,000 or 300,000 seem more plausible for me.

Number 1 is the "Central Park". Bellow, the city hall, and my home in front of it, signaled by an arrow. Andail was invited to come, but his classes started too soon... pitty.

Number 2 is (for going on with the myth) the "Plaza de Toros"... Bullfighting Arena. Fortunately, it is a place for concerts now. I saw there the Doors (of the 21st century). It's to small for big concerts, we have the football field. There played the Stones last year, I went, it was cool!

3 is a theme park.

4 is a golf curse. The grass is growing now, when the pic was taken, you can only see sand.

The big clear space at the right of number 4 will be a zoo.

That's all... It should be cool if you can get more images, but unzoomed. My town is surrounded by some over 1,000 meters high mountains. That means we have a very special micro-clima with less rain and more hot. That also means that our bikers are stronger...Ã,  ::) Even the opened space to the sea has an island, which is tow nautical miles long to the town. I came once swimming in 1:45 min. Not a supperb record, but at least I am alive.

Ahh Oxford, UK ... in all its glory. not much it it , i live near that red dot, at least i think i do. you'd think i'd notice a big red dot hovering above my house, but no.

Nice fields though, don't know why some of them look blue though.
