Title: open Source Music
Post by: Guyserman82 on Sun 03/01/2010 21:59:55
What's a good place for open source music? I can't write music myself, so I use stuff that I know is open source.

im not sure you can have 'open source' music... unless they released the multitrack masters..

however http://incompetech.com/ has some good tracks which are released under the creative commons license.

AFAIK there's no such thing as "open source music". "Open source" term is used mainly in reference to application projects. And "source" is usually program code and resources.

I think what Guyserman needs is just "free music".

ive released the 'source' for some of my tracks before.. but its only really useful for people interested in remixes.

Oh, yeah, the creative commons license.  I've used them before, I just can never remember what they're called. I've called them open source, because to me, that meant they could be used in anyway.

I've a lot of unfinished tracks...
Just tell me what you need and I will try to find you a nice fitting track. :)

Kevin MacLeod has quite a good selection of free music:

It's royalty free, rather than creative commons, but there's some stuff which is better than the average library music.
