Title: Opsound.org music resource
Post by: RickJ on Sun 10/04/2005 20:13:44
I came across this and thought some of the muscian folk may be interested (if they don;'t already know).  It also looks like a good place to find game music.  I haven't looked very deep yet.   Perhaps someone with a stronger interest and more time can take a look and let the rest of us know what's up (or down) with Opsound.

That's an awesome find, RickJ! Thanks! I'm working on a game, and this would be a great source for music for it.

;D ;D ;D

I just thought of something else, but weird... I know that WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) uses licensed music for half of their wrestlers' entrance themes. If they used this resource, they'd save themselves a hell of a lot of money. :P

Then again, a lot of these songs are experimental and/or unusual genres. :)

Interesting site.  Take note, however, that if you use music from this site in a game, you have to release your game under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.0/).  This means that anyone is free to download, copy, share, alter, and sell your game.  Of course anyone doing this is still required to give you credit...

I think it's a cool idea and all, but I'm not a big fan of giving others the right to sell my game (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=20140.0).
