QuoteI am a church going person myself, but that dosen't mean I have to force it on others, or take everything so seriously. But, I won't even bother going into my beliefs, because, like yours, nobody cares....
...Lots of people go to church.

QuoteYou need to stop and realize that you are acting like you are better than others here because of your faith. You're not, so stop it. And it seems to me that life has treated you well (Sheltered) for you to make such dumbass statements as above (the one about adoption ticks me off, you have no right to judge anyone until you are put into that situation).
...Did I ever come out and say I was better then everyone else? If I have ever come out and stated such, then I'm sorry.

QuoteYou think I accepted Christ so that I could get a "better life" or "feel good"? No way! In fact, I EXPECT people to hate me for being a Christian! I've always expected it. Christ Himself even taught that people would persecute you if they persecuted Him.

QuoteThis dosen't mean that you have to make people hate you. Jesus was a good guy, you aren't being like him with your judgemental attitude. This is the Jesus that befriended a prostitute and forgave her, you sure don't seem that open-minded....

...Is that all Jesus told her?

...There was something else Jesus told that prostitute; He told her to go and sin no more.

After he told her that, He said something more to the religious leaders...

QuoteI am the light of the world: he that follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. Ã,

Jhn 8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, You bear record of yourself; your record is not true. Ã,

Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, [yet] my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but you cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
Ã,

Once, a rich man came to Him and said...

QuoteMatthew 19:16: Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

And he said unto him, Why do you call me good? [There is] none good but one, [that is], God: but if you will enter into life, keep the commandments. Ã,

He said unto him, Which? Jesus said, You will do no murder, you will not commit adultery, You will not steal, You will not bear false witness, Ã,

Honour your father and [your] mother: and, You will love your neighbour as yourself. Ã,

The young man said unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Ã,

Jesus said unto him, If you will be perfect, go [and] sell that you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven: and come [and] follow me. Ã,

But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. Ã,

Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. Ã,

And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. Ã,

When his disciples heard [it], they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? Ã,

But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Ã,

The moral of the story? The rich man didn't love Jesus and he would suffer the consequences for not doing what Jesus told Him to do.

QuoteYou have a lot of gall to tell people you don't know on the internet that they are going to hell (You implied this). You don't know me, or anyone here well enough to minister to us in a public thread....
Haven't I already told you the Truth? That unless you give up your old ways of disobeying the Heavenly Father, you will suffer the consequences for it? The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

We all have lied, stolen, cheated, and the like and it is because we do these things that we will end up in hell! And what can we do in order to remedy the problem? We can't do a bunch of good things because we still have that desire to disobey Him. Therefore, it is through a self-surrender to Christ that we can be forgiven of our sins and old ways. And it is through this self-surrender that we find release from our old ways and that desire to disobey Him.

When we surrender ourselves to Him, he makes us new creatures!

"If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have past away, behold all things have become new."

Our desires change to where we want to love and please him through daily self-surrender. And that is the only key to True salvation--self-surrender to Christ.

QuoteI am the way, the Truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the father but by me.

And that, my friends, is where this next part comes in...

QuoteIf you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

THAT is your part...will you do it?

I hope you do... :)

Quote...Did I ever come out and say I was better then everyone else? If I have ever come out and stated such, then I'm sorry.

No, but you don't have to come out and say something to make it crystal clear that you believe it.

...Lots of people go to church.

You've entirely missed his point.  You seem to do that a lot.  He wasn't saying that nobody in the world cares that you love Jesus.  He was quite clearly saying that nobody here cares.

Please stop preaching.  Play some games, try your hand at game making, enjoy the community, and engage in a mature debate or two.  But do not preach to us.  You're not particulary good at it.  The people who wish to hear such a thing know where to go to find it.  The rest of us are not going to be convinced, swayed, or saved by your quoting of the bible.  Save your keystrokes for commenting on games that you enjoy.

Alynn, have you ever tried going to any clubs that are specifically for people who are looking for alternative relationships?  There's got to be a few about.

QuoteAh. Finally, someone replied.

Don't get your hopes up, I don't fully qualify as a sentient being.

Quote"Look, just because you have to tolerate something doesn't mean you have to approve of it! If you had to like it, it'd be called the Museum of Acceptance! 'Tolerate' means you're just putting up with it! You tolerate a crying child sitting next to you on the airplane or, or you tolerate a bad cold. It can still piss you off! Jesus Tapdancing Christ!"
- Mr. Garrison, South Park

wow, I have to say I've never discussed moral relativism and south park quotes in the same breath. The distinction I see now is one of the right to be Pissed Off (tm) about something. On all other practical levels you haven't mentioned anything else going different between the two states. On that bare pissed off level, I'll try go with acceptance over tolerance since I don't see how being pissed off is productive really. Of course I fail, I get pissed off a lot of times, but I just don't  figure this into a defense based on tolerance versus acceptance. If I have to have the right to be pissed off, I don't wanna. Me getting pissed off kinda transcends that type of discussion, which is sort of the point? I just find the concept of 'I have the right to tolerate, but be pissed off at what you're doing' kinda silly.

QuoteWhy is tolerance "passive" and acceptance "active"? Both seem equally passive to me; acceptance being even more so. Acceptance, to me, seems to be more of a "whatever, do what you want" thing, whereas tolerance is more of a Voltaire thing. ("I may not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it.")

Acceptance can be practically as passive as tolerance. On the moral level though, it's active because it requires a person to actively decide that he accepts what's going on, whereas to tolerate something can just mean that you're viewing it as a burden, delaying choice until it's over.

QuoteDoesn't a relativist view of morality undermine the need for morality altogether?

Yes, of course.

Now THIS is a 3 topic to 1.

Where should I answer (nowhere?): Helm and the old skool Squinky? JJ and his bullshit discussion, or Alynn and his potentialy interesting threesome?

Ahhh, what a difficult choice to make...

THere we go, choice made:

Vince this is the true purpose of every good christian. To save the ones that don't want to be saved.
The guy (gal? nay, he has authority!!!!!), is not preaching. He's quoting the bible and teaching us morals! that's even better!

I bet that he'll go to heaven himself and he'll probalby laugh to the rest of us in hell! There's not saving us I tell thee!

Now, JJ, don't you get it really? Your posts don't even make any sense, your approach to people is the worst ever (you're all going to hell (and YES you did imply that!), what is your background... I told you my background, what did you learn from that? Nothing! What does my background tell about me? That I'm from Greece and I like ouzo, feta cheese and moussaka! That's what! And probably that I love the sea...

Please, please let me know, from what you know aobut me, am I going to heaven, or hell? Cause if we all are, there's not need trying really...

I know I',m going to heaven, Kinoko told me...

No wait... Kinoko is a sinner herself. She wants to have SEEEEEEX with Vince, although he's married and she's engaged. And I may add that she wants to do it in front of Robocop! (<-Went a ltitle far here, but still can you imagine having sex, in front of the REAL Robocop? WOWW!)

Hey!  She said she loves me.  What does that have to do with SEEEEEEX.  That's how rumors get started mister!

esper

WHAT THE HELL IS MOUSSAKA???

<edit> this is my best post ever...
This Space Left Blank Intentionally.

Nikolas

Traditional greek food.

A layer of bessamel then some aubergine then some more bessamel some grated cheese, some minced meat and finally some more bessamel.

Vince, Oh sorry. From the old school squinky I was under the impression that love and SEEEEEX are all the exact same!

Esper: I can't believe that your post is SO small. Go ahead and EDIT it please.

Kinoko

Yes, my love for Vince is pure and transends physical pleasure.

esper

I did edit it.

Oh, by the way...

WHAT THE HELL IS BESSAMEL? AND AUBERGINE???

<edit> oh. Aubergine is a city in World of Warcraft.... How do you eat that?

And what is seeeeeeex? Did I even spell it right?

Well, actually, much of what the Bible says is pretty metaphorical. Accepting Jesus into your heart won't magically turn you a good person. To grow spiritually, you need to actually get up and do something about it. Volunteer, help the poor, educate your children, be kind to others, that sort of thing. Detachment from the materialistic aspects of this world requires consistent day-to-day effort; it doesn't just disappear at the wave of a metaphorical magic wand.

I thought I implied that acceptance meant approval, whereas tolerance meant disapproval, but still allowing a person the right to think for him/herself. For example, if I were in a position of authority, and my advice on the moral rightness of Alynn's predicament were solicited, then I would state, quite clearly, that I disapproved. However, Alynn did not ask whether his actions were right or wrong; he already believes that they are right, and there's nothing anyone can do to change his mind (yes, that means you too, preachy guy). Being tolerant means that I respect Alynn's right to make his own decisions, even though I do not agree with him.

An accepting person, were he/she to be specifically asked whether Alynn's actions were morally right, would answer less definitively. Even if they disagreed, the most they would be able to say would be "Well, I wouldn't do it, but I can't really say whether it's right or it's wrong, because all morality is relative."

Back to the topic it is!

Since this is my last night with a computer, I'd just like to thank everyone that contributed to my questions. Not just in this topic, but in the others as well (such as TV licensing, and what have you).

Next time we talk I'll be on GMT... and maybe, just maybe, I'll have time to start and actually finish a game. That is if I finally wrap up all my 800 other projects I have going :)

Until then...
