Title: Photographs an Police Station Interior
Post by: xenogia on Mon 12/04/2010 06:42:40
This maybe a bizarre request maybe no-one can help me.  But I am having trouble trying to find some images of a police station interior.  Done the flickr thing as it is creative commons, does anyone have any pics of this.  It is a long shot, but worth a try.

Just go into a cop shop with a gun and camera, and demand to take photos.  I'm sure they'll be cooperative.  ;D

I'm surprised actually, you'd think there would be hundreds of photos with all those hollywood sets.  I'm assuming you're looking for that type of cop shop and not some mexican or small town one.

Correct, but if I can't get anything else I will deal with a smaller police station.  I'm surprised how little I can find on the internet.

What about getting the DVD, vid file of a cop tv series and get inspired by it? I.E. Life on Mars, etc...

Just saw this movie so this thread reminded me. But I couldn't bother to look up a better image. Watch tv and take screenshots or whatever. There's always stuff like Miami Vice or what ever where they hang out at the station.

Law and Order has a great set, but I had no luck google imaging it. I kept getting SVU (Law and Order: Special Victom's Unit). Maybe you'll have better luck.

Xenogia, what are you looking for exactly?  I believe most police stations now days pretty much look like any other office; you know desks, computers, file cabinets, etc.    The jails are usually separate facilities, usually in different buildings and/or locations.

if you watch Angel season one, there are many parts of any episode that feature the police station.

Try to get a copy of the 1st season of Southland...theyve got some good shots...if not, sometimes just going to a PD in person and letting them know what you're working on, they'll give you a tour and let you take **some** photos...
Im lucky to know a cop personnally and Ill be going on a ride-along soon...cant wait!
:)

**depends on what/where though :P

general_knox:  Nice work with the cop thing.  I was tempted to go into my local PD and see what they said.  Might try that and see what they say.

As I see it, you have two options:

1) Commit a terrible crime. Do not commit some minor crime! Do something really, really bad that way you'll spend lots of time inside the station.*

2) Watch the first Terminator movie. It has a nice walk through shot of a police station as Ahnuld goes from room to room doing what he can to ensure a future for his desperate robotic people trying to hold on to the world they know. (He's the hero of the movie if you stop and think about it).

Hope that helps,

Ponch
