I never liked akira. I found it quite boring and a bit of silly nonsense.

Myesh, read about this the other day... I'm not sure what I think of this. On one hand I am surprised to see that DiCaprio has a fine taste in movies, and their ambitions to adapt it from the manga is honorable. But on the other hand, Akira is one of my favourite films ever. I don't really want to see a live-action version of it. Maybe if they can get Geinoh Yamashirogumi to do the soundtrack again, but heck, what are the chances of that?

Meh, I don't think a live action version would add anything better to the animated movie.

Its sell in "Neo-Manhattan"... Can't they think of a new location for a change.  When is Hollywood going to stop using 9/11 and dystopian imagery of New York to sell movies.  I am Legend, Cloverfield... what's the betting that the Hollywood remake of Battle Royale will use Liberty Island as the location.

I mean really... Nobody is going to cry if they decide to use Chicago or Seattle, for a change.

All that said, I'm actually quite interested to see what they come up with and I hope it turns out to be a good film.

Who will get the lead roles?
