Post by: Ethan D on Sat 04/07/2009 05:04:24
I dont know if this is the right place but I need to send my game to playtesters in the next 3 and a half hours and i cant figure out how.  I tried Gmail and outlook and both said that EXE files could not be send so what do i do?

This is definitely not the right place. This is for AGS questions, so it belongs in the General Discussion forum.

But to answer your question, ZIP your files, and you'll have no problems. Use 7-zip or WinRAR or some other free zip program.

If that still doesn't work, then you can rename it like this: change the name from "Filename.zip" to "Filename.renametozip".

Sending big files over email is a no-no. It's not as bad as it used to be since everybody has fast connections now, but free hosting is the better alternative:

Krazy had to deal with this problem today sending an old game of his to me.
Changing the .exe extension to .nexe was enough to fool Gmail. Just tell your playtesters how to change it back.

Zipping (or Rar-ing) it to a password protected file sometimes also does the trick. Gives you compression as added value. Doesn't always work though. Depends also on the tightness of the mailserver on the receiving end.
