??? okay, im making my first ever game and i have loads of tilesets, and a tile cutter, but...i have no software that will let take the cut tiles and place them on a page or something to make my towns, also i am having sprite troubles, i found loads at reiners tilsets. they all had a few animations to them. each animation was in a folder, i opend the folder to find loads of bitmaps that were frame by frame images of the animation, how can i use them with ags, and where should i get the tileset using software, remember i already have reiners tile cutter please help thanx ???

Read the manual. The tutorial, specifically lessons 6 and 7, deals with using graphics and should tell you everything you need to know.

Have you tried RPG Maker? You could possibly build your rooms/towns in that, and grab them for use in AGS.

in paintshop pro there's an option to snap things to grid, you could setup a grid the same size as your tiles (or any size you wanted) and then copy paste, it would probably take a while but you'd get it done and you can't rush perfection...
photoshop probably has a grid snapping option too but i wouldn't really know.
GraphicsGale has the same 'snap to grid' function and it's FREE!

The snap to grid function in Paintshop Pro is basically free too. It's bundled with the program.

the only ones that get "ripped apart" are the ones that seemingly don't read the main and forum rules, start a thread asking something that could easily be found through google or wikipedia, OR say that they're rubbish at everything and want to assemble a team to make their game for them when they haven't even properly introduced themselves.
in most cases those types of threads get deleted but you've got to have a bit of fun every now and then...
maybe its time for a newbie forum to widdle out the "the best-est game" and "i need a team" types? and a Mason's, "stand on one leg and tweek ye nipples" to enter forum for the more desirable folk

sorry the last post i drifted.. but what i'm saying is i've been ambling in and out of AGS for over 5 years, and things have got alot harsher towards the misguided, i can think of quite a few members here that had shaky start but turned out to be good talanted members.. if the reception then was the same as it is now these members may not be around

Well, considering the amount of spunk I have ever swallowed... It's mostly full of protein, I suppose. So it's like eating raw eggs, only smaller amounts. I don't really recommend trying to live with your own spunk, since youd need a lot of it to keep hunger away... So basically what would happen is what ever happens when you don't eat enough.

If you already have bitmaps of characters you want to use, you don't actually need .CHA files. There are some around (try the contributions thread (http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=14864.0) over in Critics Lounge, or you could use the RoN characters (http://ron.the-underdogs.org/characters.php)), but if you're using tileset graphics, chances are they won't fit.

Honestly... There's a difference between humiliation and having a bit of fun had at your expense. None of us know you, and will probably never meet you, so you haven't really been humiliated at all, have you? I hold no grudge versus any newbies, but if you are under the age limit, you can kinda expect some level of mockery. The thing is there for a reason. Everybody has a right to post here, as long as you can converse at a certain level. Ours may just be a little more intellectual than other forums.
Although I'm not a big supporter of mocking, I think it is nescessary. It's a form of education. We've all gone through the same thing when we were young. Now, because of that, you might say "it was bad enough for me, let's not do it to others." But think about it, didn't you learn from it? Hasn't it made you a better forum user? I remember back in the day I started out on the Penny Arcade forums. I don't know if any of you have ever been there, but it's been said to be a cesspit of aggros. I was ignorant, and at that time I cursed all of them for their harsh comments. But as time passed, I came to realize that was a turning point in the way I behaved on forums. Nobody likes some cocky punk who comes in and in his first post pimps his work as if it's the greatest thing the world ever saw. Now, I may not have been thát bad, but still, it was a valuable lesson. A lesson each of us has to learn.

All the bad experiences with other people I tend to remember as the most helpful.
But on the other hand, there seems to be the same kind of logic as in the book Holes here:
"Take a bad boy, make him dig all day in the hot sun, and it'll turn him into a good boy."
Doesn't always work. I'm sure, if anybody would talk to somebody without mocking them and teach them not to do certain things in a calm way (although I have never met anybody who has acctually had the patience to attempt this), then there would be fairly the same outcome (might not be as "character-building", but oh well).
I'm just glad I got mocked early on a more strict-about-certain-things website...
Oh, and by the way Mistral, I'll work on those sprites as soon as I can... I'm making sprites for somebody else right now, so it might take a few extra days.
