Private Registration Plate for Sale - Maybe of Interest to Individuals Here

I am a private individual who is looking to sell the rights to a UK number plate, and I believe that someone may be interested in this registration.

The plate reads as follows: "A18 AGS".

I paid a considerable amount for the plate some years ago, and would like to make some money back on it. All sensible offers are welcomed.

A quick sale would be preferable.

Seriously? You require a picture of a number plate? It pretty much does what it says on the tin.

I'm sorry, but if you don't understand why someone would like a picture of an item they'd be buying...then I suggest you go into something like a restaurant (no matter which one), shut your eyes, pick a random item of the menu and pay with a 1000 euros bill (without knowing what it costs). If you don't feel discomfort by now for giving you're money for something that might be anything, then open your eyes and try not to feel cheated, sad or disappointed. :

Ok, clearly I'm dealing with a slow one here.

It's a registration plate. I'm not selling you anything other than the DVLA rights to use the plate on the vehicle of your choice.

If you decide to buy the item, I'm not going to physically send you a bit of plastic to stick on your car! You can go to Halfords and do that bit yourself.

man, personalized plates are the epitome of vanity and decadence. They are essentially a big label for your car that says "Look how much dispoable income I have! So much infact that i have purchased this label for my car for a sum many orders of magnitude more than it is worth!"

JmRssll555, this is an international forum. There aren't a great deal of UK folk, not enough to warrant buying a personalised plate on the off chance that someone else from the forum would spot it.

Then again i'll start the bidding at Â£50, would make a nice present for CJ's birthday.

Guys, what? People talk about all kinds of stupid shit in the general forum and someone tries to sell a plate and you get confused by it? It's a pretty natural thing to sell car number plates in the UK and it's not particularly easy (or cheap) to get a lot of the decent 3 letter ones.

I hope to have a personalized number plate one day, but TBH I've always been on the look out for MOD/MJL at the end (usually around 3-400 quid, which is the cheaper end of personalized ones) I love my car and most people I know love their cars too. Where I'm from there are personalized plates everywhere. "OX1" and "M4RK" for eg. I assume it goes through the DVLA - buying a number plate isn't really something you need to see a photo for, you'll be able to get a plate re-printed, it's the ownership of the number that's important.

It actually seems pretty sensible to try and flog an "AGS" number plate at, er, AGS. I think you also need to consider the amount of coverage "AGS" gets in the UK, in magazines and cover-disks etc. And it's a half interesting (and AGS related) sell - it certainly drew my attention

That said, I agree someone should get it for CJ

True, I've seen a lot of weird stuff in here, but I can't recall anyone joining for the sake of selling something. Honestly it just seems a bit quirky to me.

Also- vanity plates are a whole separate story here in the US. You'll have to pardon my ignorance as far as how hard it is to get such things over there. I'm pretty sure you can't even sell them privately here. (This is generally where I'm corrected...

)
