Title: Problem Playing AGS games
Post by: PsychicHeart on Thu 14/09/2006 09:03:49
Lo.
For a while now, I've been having a problem playing AGS games.
Whenever I download a fine AGS game, i click it's icon.
And then have an hour of this. (http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/Untitled_1.gif)
Anyone care to remedy, as this is really annoying me.
Cheers,
Fluke.

Interesting.  It may help in pinpointing your problem if you post your full system specs (including windows xp version and service packs).  Also, try to be as detailed as you can; does it happen on all games?  Which ones work and which don't, specifically?  Do some games work sometimes and not other times?  The more you tell us, the less questions we need to ask you.

I'm Running Windows XP Home.
32MB Ram.
Can't remember Videocard.
It happens on ALL AGS games.
Is that helpful??

no. and i do not believe that you're running xp on 32 megs of ram, because that's impossible without a hacked windows installation cd, iirc.

anyway, get everest from http://dasjoe.de/everesthome220.exe, create a report (report button => system summary only => text version) and upload the file for us to see.

32MB of ram with XP home would be impossible to even try to work with, it would take hours to boot, if it booted at all.

Start --> Control Panel --> System

You might want to check if it says "Service Pack 2" in the top blurb also, as many people have had many problems with this installed.

I have SP2 and have never had any problems with AGS games however.

I have the exact same problem on another computer I got here in the house, that uses Windows XP.
But if I remember right I diddent have the problem before after I had installed Battlefield 2 and that thing they tell you to install for the grapichs to work.
(dont really remember what it was as it is a while ago I installed it.)

I will run that file you posted Hajo on it today.

Would like to fix this myself.

Here is my file:
