No idea what this means (http://games.slashdot.org/games/04/03/31/0230213.shtml?tid=127id=186id=211") for Schafer & Co., but I hope it's not permanent. Will be interesting to see what Schafer says about it on his news page.
Tim won't drop it, he's too smart for that. He's learned his lesson from watching Lucasarts and S&M2.
At first I thought this post was an early April's Fool joke. :)
It means that Microsoft will not be in charge of publishing the game anymore. However apparently they're working with Double Fine to find another publisher.
Oh, the slashdot article has nothing. Check out the news from Gamespot or IGN or mixnmojo
Yufster is going to throw a fit. Get out the riot gear.
It's just a publishing matter - so it's not like it's not going to exist ever..
Good idea m0ds..
It's OK Yuf. They won't hurt your precious Psychonauts..
LOL.... 'Heeeer' precioussssss... :)
Hey, there is hope for me! I was a bit reluctant about Microsoft publishing it, especcially cause I don't have an Xbox, but if they will have a new publisher, maybe they'll release it on the computer? Then again, if a lot of scripting and work has been done already (probably), then it's still gonna be on the Xbox.
Hmm, I better start researching these "port" thingies.. ;)
if i'm not mistaken porting to pc from xbox isn't that difficult due to the OS being windows based...
plus aren't all these games still coded on a pc anyway? that's something i've never understood.
a) Just becuase you develop on platform X with a cross-compiler to Y doesn't mean that its easy to co-develop for X...
b) MS want games to only be available on XBOX so that people buy xboxes...
how long did it take HALO to go from xbox to PC? gearbox had to rip it to pieces and had to put it back together to get it going on PC
yes, but that doesn't make sense, there are more people out there with PCs with windows then there are people with Xboxes, so surely there's more money to be made through pc games sales...
edit:
that's another thing, Halo was originally a pc game, so why didn't they just continue work on that code instead?
more piracey on PC too, i should think
Not to mention the fact that many people with PCs don't use them for games, and aren't willing to spend a squillion squid to upgrade the mid-to-low range system they currently have into something capable of running current releases.
I didn't even hear about this, because I was on holiday.

They probably decided they'd sunk enough money into it.
I had never heard of this game until last week or something - damn shame looked good (not that I can afford an X box tho) - There was a thread started by bionic bill aboot it -

Microsoft sort of quietly made this decision a couple months ago, so Tim's had plenty of time to try and figure out a publishing situation before the press jumped all over it. I don't believe anything official has happened yet, but all signs point in an optomistic direction. The game WILL be released. My only concern is that by the time it comes out Xbox 2 will be very solidly on the horizon and, as is typical when new consoles are on the verge of release, people may not be as likely to purchase Xbox games.
I object to the name of this thread. Psychonauts has not been dropped, it has merely ascended to a higher plane of existence. I hate you bastards.
