Title: Question to wretched
Post by: manored on Mon 21/05/2007 17:46:57
In bogs adventure in the underworld, the demon says "good bye and thanks for all the fish" in the end. That is, for coincidence, the name of a book. Is it coincidence or was proposital?

Unlocked on request, because manored wanted to publically discuss it.

Yes, it's obviously a Hitchiker's Guide quote, any nerd should know it. I did, and I've never read anything by Douglas Adams. It's just one of those often repeated quotes nerds know.

It's slightly misquoted, the original being "So long, and thanks for all the fish.", of course.

There are a lot of stock nerd phrases from sci fi, and comedy, and comedy sci fi. I know the entire dead parrot sketch, yet I've never seen it performed by the Pythons, sad.

Stop talking in my back.

Odd... I though this thread had shuffled off its mortal coil.

Beautiful plumage, though.

Speaking of whom, Eric Idle is said to be sueing Shrek 3 for ripping off a Python joke...

What is there to be discussed publically? How can we publically discuss whether some guy used a quotation deliberately or not, and furthermore, neither Wretched or Manored seem interested in discussing anything themselves.

Incidently, there's currently another thread about The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy running in gen-gen, and I think that should cover this forum's needs more than well.
