Now I'm just waiting for the people who go "So he was famous, who cares? Big deal! We gotta mourn someone's death now?"

Sad news (even though we knew it was inevitable) :(

So long Mr. Swayze ...

Time to put Road House into the DVD player. Oh wait, it was already in there. Guess I'll watch Point Break instead.

Swayze delivered several of my favorite bad movies. Red Dawn shaped my childhood and informs my world view to this day.

He will be missed.

And Keith Floyd too! Insert Patrick Swayze saying to St Peter "I just want all the wine bottles to be safe" joke here...

Seriously, I like a lot of the movies he was in. I never got to see that series he was just in, on TNT was it? Can't remember, but I wanted to see it and could never remember it was on.

I really liked Patrick Swayze. Not just as an actor, but as a person. Even though I never met him, He really seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

I am very saddened by this today.  :'(

He had one of those on-screen personalities that made you think he'd be a cool guy to know in real life, and for that reason I'll miss him.  There are way too many pretentious shithead actors going around these days and we've lost one who could be the 'everyman' in his performances.

Also, Red Dawn was awesome.  And Ghost.

Red Dawn was awesome.

I'm a high school teacher. Not a day goes by that I don't check the window for commies parachuting in.

Vigilance, people. Vigilance!

It's a good thing we knew that someone's death was inevitable. Too bad we don't know ours are.

Most people knew that he had Pancreatic cancer. It was just a matter of time before it killed him.

As of now, I cannot watch any of his movies without feeling sad.

Sorry, not this time  ;)

The only movie I watched where he had a role was Donnie Darko, and it was a good movie...

I rented Donnie Darko from NetFlix a couple of weeks ago and watched it.  I thought it was a really good movie, but I could not wrap my brain around the plot of the movie.

Maybe worth another rental?

Donnie Darko's better on a second viewing. And even better on the third. Actually, just keep watching it indefintely.

Regarding Swayze: RIP.

Though I loathe Dirty Dancing, and haven't seen any of his other 'proper' movies, I liked his supporting role in DD and in Keeping Mum (as the creepy American golf instructor - worth a viewing as well).
