Anybody got a paid account on Genes Reunited...? ¬¬

Only I may have found my half sister on there, but unfortunately the site requires you to register and pay before you can actually get confirmation that that IS the right person.

So I was thinking maybe I could hijack someone elses account...

CodeJunkie

My mother signed up to it quite recently, and has had great success.  Before she signed up I only knew of my relatives within the house and knew of relatives in Scotland and Australia, of which I have seen or remember nothing.  Now we have replies from cousins, aunts etc that live in places we didn't know we had relatives in, and are starting to gather addresses and build an extensive tree.  I'd very much reccomend it.

Mr Flibble

Yeah Yuf, stick it to the man. Who'd want to contact a long lost sibling when they could have a tenner in their pocket instead?  ::)
Ah! There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, I totally did not believe that Genes Reunited would be that effective. I thought it would be just a scam to get money out of you without giving you any real info or way of contacting people.

But I paid the £10 and contacted the person who I suspected was my half sisters Mum, and I am not kidding when I say that I got a reply back within 20 minutes. And it was the correct person!!!!!!!

She's passing on my details to my sister :) :)

I'm pretty much chuffed right now :D

Genes Reunited is amazing.... I sound like an advert but, seriously... whoa. YIPPPEEEEE!!! Best £10 I've ever spent :D

Mr Flibble

I feel validated in my previous satirical encouragement! Way to go! Congratulations on the newfound family!  :)

My long-lost sister could still be some kind of massive cunt for all I know, so if anything goes wrong I will be holding you personally responsible of course...

I have this fear, this... horrible fear... that she'll be a massive chav. I hate Chavs. What if she's a chav? omg :( I've never seen her or anything... :(

Mr Flibble

She has your blood, she won't be a chav. If she is just lure her somewhere holy using cheap jewellery and perform some kind of exorcism.

Not grisly murder.

No siree.

Disco

How does the story end, Yuf? Is your sister a chav?

Maybe it won't be so bad if she ends up a chav after all. Maybe that is what it takes for people to reevaluate their prejudices  :P

Meowster

Hehehe Disco,

No, she's not :)

By the way, a "chav" in my eyes isn't somebody of a certain social status or from a certain background, the word "chav" to me implies somebody who behaves in a certain way. People who cause trouble and get involved in petty crime, are rude, ignorant troublemakers, violent, very promiscuous people, etc... that, to me, is a chav. I know far more wealthy, influential "chavs" than I do poor ones...

Anyway, we haven't met, we're going to take things nice and slow (especially after I found my half-brother a few months ago and he turned out to be a violent and horrible ... well, a chav). She has two children who are very sweet-looking, and is married to a nice-sounding guy, and she has a dog called BAXTER :)

She plays World of Warcraft and has a level 60 undead warlock, which made my boyfriend gasp in awe.

Her and her son also love Guild Wars, which is lucky since my boyfriend works at the publishing company. So he put together a massive goodybag for them and posted it... should be arriving today!

It's all gone pretty well, I'm glad I'm in contact now and hopefully at some point in the near future we'll meet and not be too disenchanted with each other... she broke off contact before because, as I guessed, my Dad scared her... Apparently he tried to get her to change her surname to HIS surname within a week of speaking online to her?! Erm... so now we both understand how you build up romantic images of what your long-lost family it like, and how those images can easily be shattered... which is why we're just taking things slow this time and making no assumptions about each other :)

It's really cool that they like videogames though, the whole family... my nephew is in awe of me because I am a junior game designer... hehehe....

:)

Genes Reunited FTW!

Ghost

Luck on yer, then  :)  Nice to see some happy family stuff.

Gasp in awe? Wow stretches up to level 70!!!!!!

Meowster

Yes but she hasn't played BC yet, so that's as high as she can get. Besides which, have you tried getting a level 60 in wow? It's not easy. My boyfriend never has.
