Currently in pre-production.
Will be Chris Barry performing the Holograme character? I loved it.
kk, thxs! cant wait
btw, wats ou rfav episode? mine must be when Rimmer makes Rimmer World :) lol
I love every episode I have seen in a most sexual way!
It's been aaaages since I've watched Red Dwarf, but I love it to bits. So many classic episodes...I think Series 4-6 were the golden era, take your pick from those for a favourite, such great stuff.
another good one is the 2/3 part one when their trapped in the drug induced dream when on trial, and they get turned into cartoon characters for a bit, its a real good one (sry bout lack of detail ::))
I heard a while back that it was supposed to come back out in August of this year. However, I am not sure if that still holds true.

I read in the SFX of last month that that's not certain anymore. THe project has apparently been cancelled so many times, it's becoming very hard to finance.
It's tied to a certain director now who has a hard time securing funding, however he is in talk with a studio which is saying a Red Dwarf movie will definitely be made! However, the company is apparently not very pleased with that director.
Can't really be compelled to stand up and get SFX for the proper article, but that's the last I heard. So there's no set release date, only vague promises.
They dont need to use modern FX really, I loved the feel tto the cardboard ship on the paper planet backdrop :)
i love red dwarf! we once watched all the series on "uk gold" back to back over a long weekend :D
woodz
yeah.. they had em from like 9.00pm to 3.00 AM I watch them (THe series back to back) UK Gold rocks!
I remember that it was on TV every day early, and it was summer, Red dwarf was always after the simpsons.. or the other way??
Anyway i remeber teh funnyesness... :D
Series seven and eight were so bad. I can't bring myself to write about them. 1 and two are my favourites.
The synopsis of the film sounds intriguing though.
I think everything got hard to organinse after Craig Charles' conviction.
The early series where the best, cause it was so chessy in a good, funny way :)
And....
Conviction?
Someone forgot to tell him that no means no.
oh............................ that suks, there goes that film..........
He wasnt convicted apparently.... Lack of evidence,
accused but never charged..
This movie better rule. That's all I have to say.
I have large doubts that it will.
If they dont use the origanal cast it will suck, if they add character it will suck, in fact, they should not even try it, and let us keep the warm fuzzy memorys of the series.
Always remeber "only the good die young" (rimmer, final episode)
The last two series weren't as good because one of the writers left. However (according to imdb) he's back for the film, so hopefully things will be much closer to the Red Dwarf we know and love.
Also, the film is apparently going to be based on the original (also co-written) books, which are very good, so that's a positive indication too.

I have large doubts that it will.
It better not be like the Red Dwarf version of the pokemon movie! :-X!
If Rob Grant returns it bodes well.
The differences in quality between him and Doug Naylor are quite stark when you read and compare the seperate sequels they individually wrote to the two co-written books.
I don't think season seven or eight were that bad at all. I wouldn't argue that they were the best seasons, but they did have their moments. I don't really have a favorite season, just favorite episodes.
I think I'll be satisfied with the movie. Holly's in it, so that a plus (I still haven't figured out why they cut him out season 3-7).

Normal Lovett (The male Holly) chose to leave. I think he wanted to prove he had legs or something.
RED DWARF THE MOVIE is set in the distant future where Homo Sapienoids, a fearsome combination of flesh and machine, and the next stage of human evolution, have taken over the solar system and almost wiped out the human race.
The only survivors are the crews of long-haul space freighters that left Earth before the conflict began. The Sapienoids send forth fleets of Death Ships to hunt them down. One by one - the human ships fall, until only one remains.
Its name - Red Dwarf...
sounds good
sounds crap
someone needs to make a red dwarf point and click, but make it really dark instead of trying to emulate the humour cuz that wouldnt work. unless maybe you just ripped all the dialog from episodes. SOMEONE DO IT NOW! word
what horror??
The blurb was written to get movie bigwigs interested, which is why it sounds all conventional cheesy sci-fi-ey. I've heard it's mainly going to be based on the books.
