Title: Running the Big Red Adventure
Post by: Tuomas on Tue 16/12/2008 13:01:25
Hiya. I just thought... might there be someone here, who's managed to run The Big Red Adventure http://www.abandonia.com/en/games/810/Big+Red+Adventure,+The.html with the Dosbox 0,72.

I had a long fight, and finally got the LP-mousepad configured, and with CPU usage at almost 0%, it runs ok, except for the fact that I can't change the language... It's Italian. I just thought if anyone has tried it, how did you get past that?

You got further than I did. I couldn't get the sound/music to work either.

well it does say this on Abandonia:

"Technical note:

You’ll need the new DOSBox 0.65 to play this game!!!

You should speed it up to 12000 cycles.

Be careful about the sound configuration (if you select Soundblaster or comp. the game may freeze)."

and although it's not listed as being supported in version 0.72 of dosbox, a user comment there says that it does.

i'm gonna download and try it out, although i have 0.70 and not 0.72

edit: okay, it works fine for me apart from some sound glitches (although i've only actually watched the intro, not played it), did you actually run the setup.exe before you tried playing it?

Yeah, I did. It had English chosen as default, yet it wasn't. I treid changing it to German, running the game, going back and then changing it to english, but on both occasions the language was still Italian, as with the intro for me.
