Read about it on adventuregamers.com, LEC creating another 3D sequel. Goddamn.
It'll either suck, or just be pants. Well, IMO anyway ;)
You?

At first I was nervous, but then I saw the trailer and saw they're using the same voice actors from the first game. That gave me some hope.
Anyway, it can't be as bad as Full Throttle 2.
As I said in a post when its E3 site was first revealed, I think it looks great. The greatness of the original game had nothing to do with being in 2D.
Lucas Arts DID make Grim Fandango (I hear it's a faboo 3d game), Steve Purcell is part of the S&M2 team and they have the same voice actors. I have high hopes. I am not going to say it sucks just because it is 3d, just as I am not going to say the new Full Throttle is going to suck.
I'm just happy that Lucas Arts isn't giving up on their adventure games like Sierra did.
From what I've heard from a buddy in LucasArts (who isn't testing S&MII but another game) they're, "Shooting for using 3d but with a 2D feel" and are going to try like hell to avoid any kind of movement where the character walks forward, then you rotate them 35 degrees and then walk forward a bit and then hit enter and then rotate because you missed the hotspot (you get the idea). Anyway, they (LA) have been wanting to do it for some time but Steve Purcell didn't wanna back something unless it was done right (god knows why he okayed the TV series (or at least some of the episodes)). Anyway, they're trying to avoid an MI4 kind of interface, just working out kinks on how they'd like to do that without losing the "benefit" of "3d interactivity."
I'll look forward to this either way...
The general feeling is that S&M 2 will be better that FT2, let´s hope LA guys will make a good job. I think that S&M were a product (a comic, in fact) of Steve Purcell, so, if he´s still in the project the final result can´t be so bad.
This was announced quite a while ago, and I've been following it since then. I'm really confident about this game, to be honest. I think it looks great. Granted, you're never going to get a 3d game to capture the look of a comic style perfectly, but I think they're doing a good job (and the game is still a year away so the graphics will only get better). Steve Purcell has a big part in it, as do the original designers, and all the material so far looks quite good. I'm not at all confident about FT2 but this looks fantastic.
Trailer is great, so i'm really looking forward to this one.
A rat with a gun!
Well that's me convinced!
This trailer is really good, I looked at it earlier today. I like it, to be honest.
well.. if they talk the same, look the same and move the same.. but in 3d then i like it. and it does imo..
i havent seen the trailer (to big)
i have seen snap shots of it and i scared, thats not sam, he looks all wierd, max aint to bad, but still, maybe they shouldnt have made it so dam 3D
Whell i thought the same, but when you see the trailer, and see them walking and talking (and a happy max jumping on a carthief, yelling "why... wont... you...just.....DIIIEEEE!".. you'll be convinced the're sam n max allright
It's like the new Zelda when it first was shown.... looked rubbish in stills, but really sweet when it was in motion.
how the hell does the new zelda look rubbish in stills :o
When it was FIRST shown.
ok, how did zelda look rubbish when it was FIRST shown?
Well, at Spaceworld 2000 a very graphically advanced Zelda was shown and people were ecstatic, but then at E3 2001 the new cartoony look was unveiled -in it's very early stages- and people said it was basically the death of the franchise and Miyamoto had lost it, but if you saw it in motion it didn't look bad at all.
Then at E3 2002 they showed Zelda in motion again and it looked awesome, even in screenshots.
I heard about some people hating the cel-shaded look of the new Zelda because they'd been promised a photo-realistic sort of game.
Fuck that! You can't make a Zelda game without Nintendo's cartoony charm?
But...I just happen to really hate photo-realistic graphics (like how the universe looks) so of course I would be drawn to the cute little cel-shaded Link.
Maybe we're getting slightly off-topic...
EDIT: Blarg! Damn you Flippy, posting before me!
;D
Sam and Max could kick Link's pointy elfish ass.
I don't usually like to base my opinions on short trailers, but I just got the Sam And Max 2 clip working at last, and I just thought 'wow'. The feel of the old game and the comic is there, spot-on. I had a huge grin across my face from the very start...I'm very very excited about this one. It's got the potential to be the best thing LucasArts have done in years I think.
