Well if you do find some cool shit, please do post about. :)

I went against my own advice and tried out 7 or 8 Shadowrun Returns mods - and completed all of them.  They ranged from ok to pretty good, with my favorite being "Lone Star: Double Indemnity".  It included some new graphics with animations and was by far the toughest in that you couldn't use lazy tactics.  The story was decent as well, and there is a huge fun bar fight which was kind of unexpected.  "From the Shadows, Run." deserves an honorable mention due to having the best storyline and a few cool puzzles, though the first "chapter" can be boring if you don't come across the gun.

One of them had sandbox potential in that you could run around a small town and go into various buildings without a guiding hand or being forced, which was cool.  The mod was buggy and unfinished, but showed good potential.

Downloaded it and played through it in the last 24 hours and really enjoyed it. Other than I wish I'd put the difficulty up from "normal" because I never felt forced to adopt many clever tactics, I feel that the combat, world, and dialogue all felt meaningful. Finally someone made an isometric (or whatever) RPG/Tactical game in a cyberpunk setting and gave it both decent combat and some exploration to enjoy. It really does feel like there's some definite replay value here - I played a Decker with high charisma, high intelligence and pretty good ranged combat skills and am excited to see how differently it plays as a magic user of some sort. Riggers are a cool idea for combat, but I do wonder if their class can be used in a more non-combat way as well.

The art style was awesome, if a *tiny* bit too clean and vectory in one or two places, the music was essential 90s cyberpunk and the whole world felt great to immerse myself in.

Bring on October and the Berlin DLC, I say! :)

Any of you guys play the Pen and paper Shadowrun? It's pretty good, if you like the video game you should try it out. Shadowrun has always been my favorite rpg, so much so that I have been involved in artwork for the companies monthly missions for at least the last five years.

I haven't made playing this game a priority yet though, but it sounds like it's good eh?

I haven't played them, but a friend has been at me to try them with him. Perhaps after my experience with this I should give it a go.

But aye, you should try this. One of the most enjoyable RPGs I've played lately.

Well, I think that the horrible shooter shadowrun game that came out back in the day has me afraid to check it out. I will put it on my list though.

Well the Shadowrun fan friend of mine likes this quite a bit, and feels it does a pretty good job of staying true-ish to the source code. It seems like they've game-ified stuff like the method by which Shamans work and such, but overall it feels about as true to a tabletop game as a computer game can get without feeling like a tabletop game in digital.

It's a very enjoyable RPG, I get throught it before the first patches get released. My position is pretty the same as Ilytch. I loved the SNES game. While the combat system is impressive (look mum ! I'm throwing grenades !) there's still a lil something missing about the game world.
"I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe. Destroyed pigeon nests on the roof of the toolshed. I watched dead mice glitter in the dark, near the rain gutter trap.
All those moments... will be lost... in time, like tears... in... rain."
