Title: shoutbox suggestion
Post by: Theme on Thu 06/09/2007 21:50:26
Don't know if this is the right place, but It would be nice if this forum had a shoutbox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoutbox) like others forums you see around.
Like in http://www.kerkythea.net/joomla/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=76
this one you don't need to refresh every time

So the trolls would have more territory to feed on?

Somewhat unnecessary in my opinion, if you haven't anything worth a post or a topic to say best leave it unsaid.

Or go on the irc channel.

We already have the IRC channel for that purpose. And guess what? You can load up the IRC and browse the AGS forum at the same time!

A shoutbox would just clutter up AGS website IMO.

I have seen shoutboxes implemented quite nicely on some forums. I think if it could be limited to registered users with, say, 50+ posts and it could only be viewed on the home page (or directly via some "shoutbox.php" page or something) then it could be useful.

Consider for example that you're at a public library and you have a quick question, but can't log into IRC. If the forums had a shoutbox then you could ask there instead.

By no means would I say that AGS needs a shoutbox...but I can see how it could be beneficial (provided some limitations).

I don't think we neeeed a shoutbox.
But it would certainly be an interesting addition.
I don't care either way.
