Title: Software to use webcams through
Post by: Kinoko on Tue 26/07/2005 06:12:12
I need some program my partner and I can use webcams with. He spent hours trying to set up that stupid MS Messenger last night only to find the webcam 'screen' is absolutely puny. We've both got decent webcams and need a nice simple program that'll let us use them relatively easily.

Does anyone know if Skype supports video chat? I don't think it does, but we just signed up to it so... it'd be handy if it does.

ICQ is out. We have old versions of ICQ that don't support webcams and neither of us want the new versions of ICQ with all the other crap that comes with them.

Any help appreciated - thanks!

you can change the webcam size on MSN... and if you do video conference, it looks great.

Or try Yahoo Messenger?

Yeah there is the Video Conference in MSN Messenger that Edmundo said. I think it's only in the newest versions though. I havn't used it myself, but I'm pretty sure that its full screen whereas the regular old webcam thingy in MSN is just smallish.

Yahoo's had video chat since 2003... So that would work, of course. You could also try Net Meeting.

Skype doesn't support video yet.

Yahoo also allows you to size the window to monolith proportions if you desire, so that seems to be the way to go.

MSN allows you to enlarge the video in the drop down menu but only to a 1:1 ratio (with the resolution of the typical web camera).

P.S. Hours?! It's not that bad..
