Title: Some questions for my band...
Post by: Evil on Mon 05/04/2004 03:18:00
Well, my band is "official" now. We've got most of our members and we've got a few songs written. We wanted to look into t-shirts and webspace. Our t-shirt design is simple. Obviously, our name is Duck.

Well, what are some good companies that do t-shirts. I dont want no shitty cafe-press stuff, but I dont want to have to spend a ton and have to buy 100 shirts. I was thinking like 20 or so.

As for web space, I've been looking for some cheap stuff. I've been looking into a unlimited everything site. Its not very popular, but the "customers" seem to like it. Its probably a scam. Its cheap, but I know LGM still lurks, and I'm trying to scam him out of some money, so I wont list any info about the site. I really just want a lot for a little.

Any info or tips you have would be greatly helpful. Expect to see some music from us sometime in the near future. :)

And what the damn hell is wrong with Cafepress!? Bah... I really hate Cafepress, to be honest.

As for webspace: There's no such thing as unlimited anything. Any host that offers unlimited is lying. More to the point: You don't need unlimited. I doubt you need much at all. Unless you become phenomenally popular.

I knew a website for a popular UK hardcore band, and they didn't use more than a few gig of bandwidth a month.

I suggest: http://solidinternet.com

Good, reliable, trustworthy company... and cost effective to boot.

Edit: By the way: What sort of music do you guys play?

the shirt i got from cafepress, wore it once, washed it, it's ruined

Ionias used cafepress to get a test Fatman CD and said it was utter shit

i think their deal is quantity, not quality

I don't think CafePress's quality is THAT bad. Definately not with their clothing, otherwise they wouldn't still be in business. While quality, obviously, isn't as good as a screened shirt... it's decent. I have a CP shirt, I've had it for about three years now... it's faded a little bit (as most shirts do after time) but it has retained it's quality as much as a non CP shirt.

My beef with CP is their prices. Base prices of 14 bucks for a shirt before markup is added? Rubbish. Then you factor in their shipping...

I don't think their CD's are that bad, almost-near professional pressed CD's, but again: not cost effective enough. They do books now, too, and they are almost on par with commercially printed books.

I'd suggest trying to find some local print screen shirt makers near you and seeing what you can get from them. A small business is more willing to meet a customers needs.

What you need to do is quickly register your name on Bandname.com or bandreg.com to claim your bandname. ("Duck" is not taken yet -- amazing, amazing!)

I think bandreg.com is free to register a bandname.
