The normal size for a BG are 320X200

320X144 of space for the background, hence 66 pixels are for the Lucasart GUI.

So, make a black screen with that sizes and calculate how big you want the characters.

Curse of Monkey Island is 640x480, nacho, and it uses the verb coin ;)

A character sprite with pink background, saved as PNG?
Here you go:

Seriously, Guybrush379, why don't you start with something simple as your first game?
You are a beginner, AGS- and graphics-wise, does it have to be an accurately emulated Broken Sword clone?

Why not download the RON characters if you're looking for samples?

The following link might be of some help to you:
http://www.juncmodule.com/index.php/category/downloads/

On that page look for the "juncSourceCollection" zip file link.  It has a bunch of sprite template goodies ripped from various adventure games (some of the various MI sprites included).
