Title: Star Wars DVD...

A site apparently has images of the covers for Star Wars IV-VI DVD set...

I think that they look great, and I just love that box. It fits perfectly in my opinion, though the Star Wars name should be in gold. What does everyone else think of it, that is... if it is the official box?

Well, the Star Wars box set image has been posted on the Official Star Wars site before, so I'm pretty sure it's legit. And also, your wish has been answered, well, sorta. The Fullscreen versions of the films come in a gold coloured box, if memory serves me correctly. Of course, who would REALLY want the fullscreen versions?

Those are the first images I've seen of the jewel cases though. And, as much as I like 'em, I love the original box art for the three movies. <Stares at his huge "Empire" poster on the wall, lovingly>

And as quickly as I'm gonna buy these discs, and enjoy them, it's still gonna hurt me inside, all the changes George Lucas has made to the films. Original vision my butt. If Greedo shooting first was your original vision, why they hell didn't you film it that way? That was WELL in your technical capabilities back in 1977, so don't give me any of THAT crap either...

*SIGH*

I don't care what the box looks it.  As long as it has the movies with maybe some extra stuff in it like commentaries, behind-the-scenes exclusives, deleted scenes or bloopers, then I'm happy.

/me has about four or five of the Star Wars Collection DVD packs by now.

*Walks around happily carefully waving her LD box set around for all to see*

Despite that, I've been waiting for these DVDs for ages. I agree though, it's such an awful pity that it's not the original original originals.

Couldn't agree more.Ã,  I love the Special Editions, but I'd like to have the originals too.Ã,  I was so thrilled a few months ago when I hear about the OT on DVD, then when I realized the originals weren't included I was bummed.

But I'll take what I can get!

I had, about 2 years ago, made my own DVDs for the trilogy.Ã,  Made my own cases, cover art, DVD menues, etc.Ã,  The transfers were crap and the sound got eff-ed up but I had them on DVD!!Ã,

Only a few more months to go ...

I think we had this conversation here before ... we decided that was a fake picture.

At least, I sure hope so.

Notice the body and clothes are the same. I don't think they would only replace the head?
But if it is really a fake, it's a damn good one.

I think Lucas has some wierd obsessive compulsive thing where he feels the need to constantly change little details that bug him about these movies.
It's like those people that start worrying about germs, and the next thing they know, they won't touch anything with their bare skin, and won't even breath in the same room as other people.

Yeah, I hope it's a fake.  Who knows.  I still think he should release the original trilogy on DVD.  Lord knows pirates are doing it already.  He could make MORE money this way!

Why the hell doesn't he just have a big pack like the Aliens series did? Have the original, and then the SE version of it?

Maybe it's because he knows we'd just destroy the SE versions and live out our lives with the OT...

I mean, really! He could release a HUGE pack like you said, charge another $100 bucks for it, and I'm sure we'd still all buy it anyway.

Nooo! That is just plain evil. Unless some Hayden-lookalike and some professional bored editor did it. I hope that's it.

It's like a nightmare come true. I'm all about enhancing movies (because as a sofware developer nerd, I relate it to sofware patching), but only improve the effects! don't change them  :'(

I THINK it's a fake.
Does the name Richard Maquand ring a bell?

He only directed the movie, Eggie....

You mean George Lucas didn't direct these things?
He was just a mere creator/ writer/ producer guy.

Well there's my hopes and dreams crushed.

A new hope was directed by Lucas.

George Lucas had medical problems due to overstress, so he only directed the first of the OT (A new hope).   Ian something-or-other directed ESB, and Richard something-or-other directed RotJ.   Georgie-boy did direct the prequels, though.

He was building his empire back then, so he couldn't direct ESB and ROTJ. So he appointed Irvin Kershner to direct ESB, but when it turned out to be overscheduled and whatnot, he put Marquand who he could control and basicly he told me what to do (which explains why ROTJ is a lot more like the new movies).

Bah, I gotta stop reading about star wars. I'm going to go make a game. bye.
