Title: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Post by: PureGhostGR on Sat 20/12/2003 09:04:58
Even though this is not a RPG forum, I felt I had to mention my joy out of playing this game.

I mainly play adventure games but I more often than not, find the odd Role Playing Game a good variation.

I have been a picky <paranoid> gamer almost all my life, and to be honest, it has been along time since I felt *so* satisfied after playing a game.

*lights cigar*

Nuff kidding, everything was perfect for me. Everything. I even liked the bugs, damnit.

I´ve seen the box of the game in the shop, and the graphics are amazing, I really wanted to buy it, but it was pretty expensive. I´ll be richer after christmas, but I never really the "old RPG´s"... Do you recommend this game to me?

I like RPGs and love Star Wars, so its a game I was really excited about (the MMORPG 'Galaxies' game didn't interest much though). But my computer is only 450 MHz, so I don't have a chance of running it. My graphics card probably isn't even good enough, it'll have to wait til I've upgraded...could be a long time :(

I'm halfway through the game (well, probably less), and so far, I am impressed. This game has done what almost no other Star Wars game managed to do - it caught the correct atmoshpere of Star Wars.

I haven't played it :(

My brother played it and wouldn't stop until he'd won the game!  I watched some of it and it did look pretty darn sweet!

I very rarely play any games (except AGS games) but the other day I sat down and started playing Halo on the PC and was totally sucked in.

Talk about an awesome experience!!  I got bored after a while but I was shocked [pleased] at how it pulled me in!

So I know what you mean about that game!

I finished it a few days ago and I immediately started a new game. This game is so open-ended I feel I could play the game 10 times and not choose every option possible. I am an RPG fan, but I would recommend this game to non-fans and non-Star Wars fans alike. Just play it :P

.... oh well, i'm just going to see what the game looks like.
I finished CoD, and i newer ran Kotor since...

I started playing last week and I'm really impressed.
The great thing is comparing what I've done to what my brother has done and seeing the differences.
Also finding out how much less evil I am than I hoped I could be is eye opening and sad.

Looks ok, maybe I have been playing Outcast and Academy too long..But how do you fight with sabers, is it just like Outcast? Or do you just take turn hitting each other and such?

Anyways, I would more likely play Galaxies(because RPGs are tons better when you don't have to play them by yourself)

Anyone here play Outcast or Academy on-line?

Unlike in Jedi Knight games, you don't participate in the combat yourself. You just click the opponent and your character does the rest.

KOTOR has the honour of being the first RPG to make me laugh out loud.

HK-47 (a sadistic droid): "[*CENSORED*] asked me what I thought of him and I informed him of his meatbag status."

Bah, doens't sound like my kind of game.  :-\

Honostly, I like using our (Me, My bro, and my cousins) awesome knowledge of the JKA console commands to make our own RPG's. Fairly awesome, Extremely geeky.

Well it took me a while, 70 hours, and I am through. A true masterpiece of gaming. Again, Bioware managed to find the perfect balance in an RPG, allowing every individual to craft his own game. The twist was surprisingly unexpected, and the characters were developed very nicely. Time to make myself the Sith Lord now.

Tho' i never played too much of RPGs, I loved this one. It was so non-linear. I felt like with my every move i decided what the future will be. and it felt great. I see that playing on the dark side is easier/quicker than playing on the light side, because you dont have to worry about htem details so much, only that the job is done. I finished it dark and light side with Bastila as my girl and without her :).

Anyway i could talk about it for hours but i'll just say that i'm not a big gamer myself, but when i got this game (lucky me that i got it at the end of shool), i couldnt stop playing it.

This is one game i will certainly buy in the near future. I've heard alot of good things about this game, and reading this topic makes me want it even more.

I loved this game! I chose both paths Dark and Light. I was surprised at how un-fun the dark side was. :)

This is my first time posting, but I just had to comment about this game. This is most deffinitly my new favorite game, I was a huge FF fan untill I played this game. Its gonna be very hard for future RPGs to compete or even compare to KOTOR. The combat system is the kind of system I've allways expected from a 3DRPG. I had allways been disapointed with other 3DRPG's attempts, Elder Scrolls 3: Marrowind leaps to mind.

Finished as Sith Lord, and felt bad about it.

Spoiler
Poor Carth. (dunno if those of you who played a male character will understand.)

What? SO WHAT IF I PLAYED A GIRL?

Now it's time to play all the AGS games I missed before the nominating.

I thought Morrowind was awesome.  I loved the graphics, and the fact it was a very non-linear game.

I thought it was awesome also, especialy the graphics, maps, and models. I was saying I was disapointed with the battle system. The battle system in Marrowind was more of a FPS Melee thing, not really an RPG battle system. Where as in KOTOR its more turn based and not as dependant on reflexes.

Don't get me wrong I'm a huge FPS player also, so I didn't find it daunting like some, but still not what I expected from a "RPG".
