I absolutely hated his shows.. Hated in its worst form. "Today in 'The Ozzyhunter' we are gonna piss off this croc! Real bad!"

But it is really a tragedy that he died. He had two young children and a wife, donated tons of money to different wildlife organisations, and he did not deserve to die.

The weirdest thing was reading about how awful the footage was. I read a report about people talking about how hard it was to watch his death caught on film. Apparently he pulled the barb out before "dying instantly".

I don't know him personally, but I think it's a terrible tragedy for his family and I'm sad this happened. However, I am enjoying a lot of the jokes coming out of this immensely ^_^ I mean... that was the first thing I thought when I heard the news. "Steve Irwin killed by a stingray...

Sorry, can't finish the post. Futurama on TV... haven't seen it in a year... um... entranced.

Yea, Steve Irwin killed him I think 2 years ago. It was coming up on the anniversary of the battle too...

From what I've heard, he "accidentally" cornered the sting ray and it acted out of self defense.

Oh, and just wanted to respond to this comment...
Quote from: [Cameron] on Mon 04/09/2006 10:06:26Also, I dont see why famous people should get so much fuss in comparison to anyone else, sure he died and that really sucked, but if he was anyone else, you wouldnt care.
...with...
QuoteHundreds of people visited Australia Zoo to pay tribute to the deceased entertainer and conservationist. The day after his death, the volume of people visiting the zoo to pay their respects had affected traffic so much that police had to reduce the speed limit around the Glass House Mountains Road and told motorists to expect delays.
...from Wikipedia. Tell all those people that they're wasting their time :P

Shitar: He gave a lot yes, but a lot of other people give their money, sure its not the same amount, but they care enough to give what they can. Just because he gave more doesnt mean he was a better person, or more worthy of merit, just means that he had more. I doubt I'll ever get a million dollars, and if I did I would give a lot to charity, most likely to 65 roses, which I've now made my personal charity to give to every time the oppurtunity arrises, sure I dont give much, but its what I can, because it's something I care about, nature was something he cared about and thats what he gave to. yes he was a nice guy, but he still gets a larger fuss because of his status. As for the jackass comment, it served no purpose. I'm not sure your intention with it, but if it was to add effect to your post or to just hurt me, you failed on both accounts.

Still it's a shame that Steve died, no matter what. We found out, while for the normal humans we don't usually find out. I do remember crying a lot for babys being killed and all that, I guess I'm too sensetive...

Nacho

Nikols, why your nick is now "Helm!"?

A misstyped tribute to the Beatles album, or a tribute to the hairy goat?

This deserves to be brought back to the first page. R.I.P.  Steve, you'll be missed.

I found a tribute video online tonight that was very nice.

You know...when I first saw this thread I thought, "Oh someone made a funny image" or something...The one thing I didn't expect was for it to actually mean what it said. I really didn't think...I mean...I know everybody's got to die sometime, but, somehow Steve Irwin was supposed to be invincible. Maybe he'll find some nice crocs to wrestle in the afterlife.

Rest in peace Steve.

Andail

Just read that Steve's fans have been mutilating those stingrays and cut their tails off.
Steve would've been so proud of his avenging followers.

Las Naranjas

Provided there is any connection at all, which is speculation at this stage. Slow news day I guess.

If your dad handled dangerous animals and was so damn enthusiastic when you were a small kid, wouldn't you call him a hero?

lo_res_man

He would be a hero to the kid, but almost every dad is the kids hero, at least for a while.
But he ain't no hero to the rest of us. He is just a guy who wrangled dangerous animels on television, for our viewing pleasure. A man, or woman, who runs into a burning building to save a child or eldarly person from a fire, even if not related to him or her, that is a hero. The people who vollinteer at drug rehab are heros,  the people ho dive in frozen rivers to save drowning people are heros, the people who do whats right, even though the other is so much easier, is a hero. hero's are rare. we shouldn't lable everyone who dies  and is famous, a hero.
