Disclaimer: I'll admit, I have no knowledge of IRC Bot Programming.
I have a suggestion for Roger.
Say that I wanted to find out if people were talking about me behind my back.
I envision something like this:
<rtf>Roger mentioned rtf
<Roger>rtf was last mentioned 3 days, 2 hours ago by CJ_ saying "If anyone deserves the nobel prize, it would have to be rtf"
Again, I don't know how you were to implement that, but I thought it was worth the suggestion (as you can see it's possibilities).
What do you think?
They could just release the frogs, er... logs as text files.
Yeah, the issue would be Roger would have to save all of the conversations and go back through them. Its probably possible, but it would be too much work for Roger.
There is already an option for roger to tell you how many exclamation marks you have typed, so I assume making this option would not be problematic nor too much work for Roger.
More like:Ã, "roger gossip rtf"
But won't this just force people to come up with l33t spellings for names?
Like:Ã, "Geeze, \/el won't shut up about his game."
or: "I wish er|c wouldn't hit on me so much."
Roger would have to log every word on IRC, including all possible monickers.
The only realistic way to do this would be to have a list of names that Rog was on the lookout for -- otherwise, it would involve him trawling back through logs to find the last reference.
Besides which, surely one of the benefits of IRC is that you can talk behind people's backs when they're not there :P
The wonders of a private message, CJ :P
Private messages? just wait till they leave the room
Or just say it to their face.
Yea...
/me waits till Evil leaves the room...
The problem with this would be that Roger's logs are absolutely enormous, something like 1MB for each day he's online. So obviously searching through his logs every time someone asks him when they were last mentioned would take time and effort...
Anyway, who cares what people say behind your back? It's what they say to your face that matters. And I don't think #ags should be turned into a high school drama...where people go around getting angry because of something someone said while they weren't there. Just except the fact that people may or may not talk about you when you're not there.

heh
Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
If I'd known how big roger's logs were....
