AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!  :o
Can you post a mirror, or do I have to take a vacation in order to see this video?

Thomas, if you use Firefox you can simply download the "Google Web Accelerator". This tool makes those videos work (most of the time atleast). I don't have a link, you will need to google... ;)

Tuomas

I remember someone finishing Morrowind in 15 minutes... but I can't find the video now. If there still is one available.

Ah, thanks for this tip (and the quick answer)!
I'll try to find it.

EDIT: Ah, it works! I had to download Firefox, too, but whatever, at least I can see the video now.
I hope I can return the flight ticket!  :P

I just watched it and I'm impressed!
This guy climbs Whomp's Fortress in five seconds!Ã,  :o
If I think about how long it took me, when I played it with my brother back then!
And this guy just jumps three times and is on the top!
And this very skillful exploiting of bugs...
For example climbing the infinitive staircase without having enough stars by using the ass-slide-method!
Wow, I got goosebumps with this speedrun!

EDIT: Thanks, Dr. Lecter, but it already worked, as I stated above!

I don't buy it ... there's no way a human being could play the game like that.  The camera moving around and him skirting those edges like that?  Just no way.

This had to be some kind of bot running on an emulator or something.  It's a hoot to watch, but I find it hard to believe a human being could do that.  I am willing to be proven wrong :)

Tom S. Fox

Would be a really clever Bot!

One of my favourite speedruns was of someone playing Mega Man X and Mega Man X2 at the same time with 1 controller [they rigged it up so one controller controlled 2 emulators at the same time.

He didn't die once and he beat them both in like 40 minutes or something. It was a sight to see!

In a totally nerdy sorta way!

mandarb, it's been ten years since super mario 64 was first released. i think that by now some people will have mastered the game. also, if you look very closely, you'll see that the guy messes up sometimes.

and it would take years to make a scripting bot for super mario 64.

Tom S. Fox

Ten years?
Is it really been so long?
Man, I was only nine when I played it!
Geez, time sure is rushing by!
However, I haven't seen him messing up, he was perfect! PERFECT!

MarVelo

A guy beat half-life 1 in like 20 minutes  :P

Vince Twelve

I'm only two stars in and I'm freaking blown away.

However, it should be mentioned that most of these sorts of things are made, not using a bot like Darth suggested, but using an emulator that allows you to actually slow down the speed of the game to a crawl.  It makes all of your reflexes nearly perfect.  So this guy could have actually played the game at 1/10 speed and taken nearly 3 hours to beat it.  You can also save state and restore if you make a mistake.

Then, the emulator will let you replay the full play through back at normal speed making it look like you are a god at the game.

It's still freaking cool to watch!

Kinoko

Was just about to post that...

Most of the famous time attacks were done like that. I was disappointed when I first learned about but, but heck, it's still cool to watch.

Scummbuddy

Mario is a filthy cheater. Using his buttocks to climb stairs is unnatural.
- Oh great, I'm stuck in colonial times, tentacles are taking over the world, and now the toilets backing up.
- No, I mean it's really STUCK. Like adventure-game stuck.

If you look 1 minute in, it clearly says that it's a tool assisted run, then points to a website that explains in detail:
http://bisqwit.iki.fi/nesvideos/WhyAndHow.html
Earlier in the run it explains that it needed something like 26,000 re-records (basically rewinds of the emulator).
Pretty awesome none the less!
Still waiting for Purity of the Surf II
