That was awe-inspiring! I'm sure as sure can be that the guy used save slots and slow downs to achieve that, but that barely makes it less amazing. That he/she sat there and figured out how to do all that is amazing enough.

They do these type of things in Cinematech on G4, little speed runs and they are pretty cool, especially seeing them beat half-life in like what 1 hour?

Etcher Squared Games

Ok, so he most likely played it at a slow speed and saved state and restored when he messed up.

My question is, can I pull the tricks on my N64 (currently put away) that he did on this emulator (like using the bunny to walk through doors) and the butt trick to go up the infinite stairs and such?

I haven't tried the infinite stairs thing, but I have done the rabit through door thing, its quite funny if you just keep doing to get into the most strange of places. Not long ago I watched this game where this guy beat Pokemon Blue, in 1 hour 40 with 1 single pokemon fighting for pretty much the entire game.

I never tried a Super Mario time attack, but I did get all 120 stars, although I know of someone that got all stars in some time like 4 hours.

there's no reason why you can't. the only thing that an emulator does is loading the memory dumped from an n64 cartridge.

I would love to be able to go back and play Super Mario 64, but i can't since i loaned the power supply to somebody a couple of years ago (N64) and he kept it. I have yet to buy a new one. I could always go and buy Super Mario DS, but it won't be the same without the analog control. I have Super Mario Sunshine, but i could care less about it.

Kinoko

Sunshine is the one Mario game I never finished. I tried, I did. It just got too boring and repeptitive and... I couldn't stand those fucking island people.

mwahahaha

That guy only got sixteen stars, so technically he didn't REALLY finish it.  Still, funny as hell.

Sorry to awake this dead thread, but I see this as more "AGSerish" than finishing mario in 16 minutes. 12 LucasArts adventures in 24 hours.... man... Seems tought even knowing the sollutions.

Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

* Gilbot V7000a didn't even dare to see the video...

Will that video play 24 hours?

I think that depends on the choice of games, and in my opinion many of the Lucasfilm Games adventures were on the short side (for example it's quite easy to beat Loom within 1 hour), so it's not surprising. The only thing that bugged me was continuously playing games for 24 hours non-stop, I think I'll die doing that. Also, people, GET A LIFE!

Gilbot, the merit is not doing it in time, the "merit" is to be 24 hours in the same place looking to a bright screen... That's devotion to a game company! ^_^ I think I've ever wanted to play monkey 1, 2 and 3, but never dared... This guy is close to madness, IMO.

EDIT: Gilbot, see the video, he has a clock and you can see how he lasts in finishing each game! ^_^
Are you guys ready? Let' s roll!

Gilbert

Yeah, didn't you read my last line? :=

Nacho

Yeah, and I agree... but it's still funny! ^_^

Hehe, yeah, I already planned to beat this one.
As soon as I have a camera, a copy of Full Throttle and enough coffe, junkfood and spare time I'll get to work!Ã,  ;)

NEVER!!!

eric and everybody, some of these speedruns lose a lot of their charm when you find out they're tool-assisted speedruns. The megaman x and x2 for example, is save-stated and the dude ran it at 1% speed or something. Still takes planning and edurance, but not so much mad skillz as you might think. They're not hiding the tool-assisted aspect. There's people doing no tool speedruns too, and they can get pretty amazing too.

Like this.

Also, Thomas, how about you played AGS games instead of Lucas Arts ones? Just select about 24 games as most of the AGS games tend to be shorter than many Lucas Arts games, and see if you can finish them all in 24 hours. That would be interesting.

That is, if you really intend to make a speed run of some sort.
