hey guys,

im soon to be getting a graphic tablet and i was wondering wether there are any things i should keep in mind when using one, are there any tutorials or anything on the web?

also i'd like to know how the whole system works .. is it just like drawing normally or do you have to do anything special?

You're about to take your first step into a larger world!

For me especially, as I'm left handed, getting the tablet was a god-send!

I couldn't 'draw' with the mouse because I use it right handed (unless I'm pixelling ... different story).  When I got my tablet all of a sudden there was a whole new world of computer art I could do.

Then I upgraded to XP and now the damn thing won't work right and I've since stopped using it.  However, since I could no longer use the tablet I started fooling with pixel-art and that opened a whole new world and now I love doing pixel art and ...

Now who's ranting?

My best advice on the tablet is to install it, and use it.  The best way to learn!

Yay ;D! I'm also left handed. Can you suggest a cheap and easy to use GT?

For practice, I recommend re-visiting the basics.  Try drawing grids, try drawing shapes.  Do tic-tac-toe style grids and draw a geometric figure in each.  If you know what you'd like to draw, you could start with that but I find that doing geometrical patterns helps with my technique, sturdiness & helps me associate a point on the tablet with a point on the screen.  To help get used to it (particularly the tablet point vs. monitor point) I used the pen for windows navigation & a couple top-down-games: solitaire & Mahjongg.  I do not recommend it for Half-Life (I've still got a hangover from that, I think).

lol, a bit of counter-strike would defently test your drawing skills lol.
cheers yaksprite, i'll keep theem in mind
