Anybody been to one of their shows throughout the UK or Ireland yet?

I went to see them yesterday in Brighton. It was totally awesome.

The D rules!

Jack Black is comic genius.

I've not yet seen them live, but I will when they come to my neck of the woods ... that's if I can get up by the crack of noon.

While I didn't get to the Glasgow show myself (I didn't get tickets in time), a friend of mine did and saod the show was actually a little disappointing, I don't think he liked the way it was a semi-play instead of a straight gig. Or at least, that's the impression I go - he was very hungover when I spoke to him about it...

I do however like the new album, it's pretty rockin' - it always surprises me that I like Tenacious D for their music, not just the humour side. I've seen the film as well, and it's good for what it is - obviously it's not paticularly groundbreaking and isn't going to win any oscars, but it kept me amused for a couple of hours, so it's a success in my book.

Love the D, big time fan here. The best thing about them is that unlike some other comic music acts, their music is actually quite good. And Jack Black probably has the best voice I've ever heard.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will when it comes out here. Sadly I don't think they'll ever tour South Africa :(

I saw the movie. I quite liked it. A bit...wordy...I mean they don't really have to curse quite that much do they? But living with my step-dad for 14 years I can pretty well just tone it out. Nevertheless their songs were awesome. They should definitely do another movie.

JimmyShelter

I can't wait till they return here, and till the movie plays here.

I saw them live a few years back here in Amsterdam, and they rocked my socks off!

You know, this movie was the first time I've heard of this project, and basically this thread is the first place where I've ever heard anything good about them. what does that mean?

That far too many in the world don't recognize true talent when they see/hear it.

I had never heard of them before the movie...and before this thread I didn't realize they were serious. But the fact that they're actually going on tour is wonderful in my books. I'd actually love to see them live.

Well, serious is a big word  ;D

They do make very good music, but Tenacious D is not a 'real' real band. When they perform they still play characters. Okay, the characters are very close to their real personalities, but still, characters.

I am a massive fan of the D. I have not seen them live yet but I am going to see them tomorrow with my mom and my bro, who are also fans ;D.I will post to say how it went when I can

Why do you see them then? It's widely known that they do swear and such. I myself don't really see anything bad about it. It's just words of expression.

Anywaaay... I would loove to see them live! I've been a fan for some years now. First I ever heard of them was prolly "Only gay eskimo". They are getting better and better! :D

lo_res_man

its like the blues brothers! Only lets hope the fat one doesn't OD. That would kill them both off. ;D

vic...it's just that I would think their music would be just as good without it. Like I said, I still enjoy their music, I just think that it's unnecessary for them to drop the f-bomb quite as many times. But...good music is good music. :)

Tuomas

You mean fuck?

I heard a critic just say, that these guys were the poor man's Spinal Tap. That Jack black was either trying to be the rock king he never got to be, or he was just trying to be fun by redoing a rock comedy thing.

The D! :D

I recommend getting this, and watching the original six tv shows, especially the episode "The Fan". Brilliant.
