At http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn1775 they said that they have discoverd the basic average colour of the universe.
Weirdly enough, it is similer, though not the same as, that would be too much, to the default colour for a windows desktop. It makes sense if you think about it, we got very red stars and very blue stars, heck even a few violet stars, and whats in the middle? colours like that. but still it is amusing in a esoteric sort of way.

If kindergarten taught me one thing while painting, it's this: No matter what color you're trying to mix, you'll end up with brown.

So that's what i'd call the average color of the universe.

Seriously though, how can they even take an average of a color? And in what way will it be calculated? Wavelength, additive coloring, deductive coloring (forgive me my possible screwups in teminology, i'm no expert)

I guess i better read that article now before i'm told i'm an ignorant fart that asks questions already answered in given info..
Almost intentionally left blank.

Yes, yes...and everyone in the universe has what is it? 2 1/2 legs?

Something like that. Taken from the last Universal Census. Everyone has 2 1/2 legs, owns a hyena, and is completely turquoise. Eiffel 65 got it wrong.

heh heh... I read hitchhikers quide to the galaxy too :D
but seriosly, yah, read the article and you will find out how they found out the colour, planets don't count.  though if we ever take a survey once we can find planets billions of light years away, then yes, the colour turn out differant. but not much, planets don't count FOR MUCH.

Slightly unreleated but I love this quote on the BBC news website;

"Climatic change is "very likely" down to human activities, the global body on climate science will say."

Reeeeeeally? You know I'd never have guessed that in a tradillioooooon years! I thought it was hippos and mice that dropped litter, and that the industrial revolution was the cleanest period of history ever.

And I thought it was us Americans who were slow.  :=
