Im working on my first room, but it isnt coming so well, idk how you people put so much detail into everything, mine looks like something off of teletubbies...

This is probably my favourite art tutorial, because it focuses on things like composition and conceptualising the background, not just using tools effectively.

I hope it helps!

Im reading it and its pretty cool, thanks for the guide

Well i looked at the guide, im not much good with art and what i have isnt what i imagined when i first thought up the game.

I guess it can only go up from there.

You know what?  I've got my own games I'm working on, but I don't want to seriously start the art on any them until I'm done planning out the story and puzzles... and I feel bad having been on this forum for so long without actually having any games to show for it... so actually, if you really need an artist, I'd be happy to help out.  The only thing is, I can't promise I'd be able to get things done quickly... I've got a heck of a lot on my plate already.  But if you're not in a big hurry, I'd feel better having actually contributed to a game.

If you want, PM me with more details of what you're looking for, and I'll see what I can do.

In the meantime, though, I second what others have said about starting to program the game without having the final art in place.  Even if you have terrible-looking crude line-drawing backgrounds and non-animated stick figures for the characters, that'll at least let you get the code working, and you can replace them with the final artwork later.  As has already been said in this thread, you don't need to already have the real backgrounds and sprites done before you start work on the game.
