Hey, so i'm about to descend into conformity and take up Counter-Strike. However, i have a slight problem, that being if my videocard will be up to scratch. My videocard is an nvidia riva tnt2, the generic one that came with the computer.
Will this be enough?

Normal CS, the Half-Life mod.

As all Half-Life mods' system requirements are same with Half-Life, you should look up the system requirements of HL.
If I remember correct, TNT 2 is an old videocard, but not as old as HL. My first PC was using a TNT and could run HL well, I guess.

Half-life (and cs) can run under hardware rendering iirc (steam version may not be able to) so this meant you don't even need a video card.

Ghost

I used to run HL on a P200 and a Voodoo1 with acceptable speed.

Yes, I am THAT old.

Oh, but when i say the Half-Life Mod, i meant the commercial version  that was released standalone.

TNT2 is more than enough, for ugly, blocky,  poorly lit graphics of original CS.
For Source version, though, you need a real video card.

That shouldn't matter. It's just Half Life but with more things going on performance wise (But hardly much). If you don't have Half Life, download a demo of it. If the demo works fine you should be okay to play CS.

(Unless there is a demo of CS, in which case I wouldn't understand why you'd have to ask us when you can try it out)

Had exactly the same card while playing HL and mods.  Works fine.
