About a week ago, a hack to GIMP for Mac OS X was created by Scott Moschella named GIMPShop. As the name implies, GIMPShop is a conversion of The GIMP's GUI to make it resemble and act almost identically to Photoshop.
A port for Windows XP has just been released by dakira, and now wary users of GIMP can feel at ease using the software. The GIMP interface is much less daunting with this hack. Now bearing an MDI interface, and less confusing labels and menus, GIMP can be used by those that favor Photoshop's interface.
Grab a copy here, and tell me what you think:

Thanks, I was hoping the Slashdot publication would inspire someone to port it to XP.
WTF, it looks just like the GIMP but all in one window.. I was hoping for a more intuitive port instead of the obfuscated ways that you're forced to crop and etc.
As the page says, this really is just a hack, to get a background window in. It's a small improvement over normal gimp, but floating toolbars can still go underneath images, unlike PS, which makes it pretty impossible to use for me.
If you actually took the time to read, it's more than that. All of the shortcuts, menu structures, and even tool names have been changed to closely resemble photoshop...
Didn't go deep into it, but upon first try I think I'll keep on using the original winGIMP distribution. This can be useful to some other people though.
Yes, I know that, I took more than just the time to read, I used it for a few hours. I'd have mentioned that but different keystrokes isn't something that bothers me too much about the gimp's interface, PSP has different buttons and that's fine to use, it's the windowing that makes the GIMP suck.
It still doesn't convince me to stop using my pirated version of PhotoShop CS. Sorry... :P
I was hoping this was a thread about a GIMP alternative.
