Title: The Last Unicorn
Post by: MarVelo on Sun 03/09/2006 00:03:29
Has anyone seen the animated movie "The Last Unicorn"? The music is done by "America". And I think its a totally awesome movie. I found it on DVD recently.  :)

Sounds interesting. I'll check it out.
And I notice you like "V for Vendetta". That movie rocks.

V for Vendetta is much better as a graphic novel, though i concur that the movie rocks.

Yes, The Last Unicorn is quite an enjoyable and lesser-known Rankin-Bass film, although that could be because it partnered with another group to make it--or people just weren't interested in unicorns at the time it came out.  At any rate, aside from the multiple Disneyesque musical interludes I quite liked it.

My sister had this on the same video tape as Back to the Future. I used to like the movie sometimes. I haven't seen it in AGES...how much did you pay for the DVD (I'd actually like to buy it.)?

And speaking of older-ish movies recently bought on DVD, I just got Labyrinth which I love for like $5.50 USD. Love those Wal-Mart bargain bins! ;)

I believe it was 10 USD at EB Games. But I think I saw it for 5 USD at Targets more recently.

Labyrinth is an excellent movie. David Bowie is awesome. I have that on DVD too. Also from Wal-Mart. Lol

Wal-Mart bargain dvd bins are the only reason why I ever go there.  I found the X-Files movie for $4.50 there, and Nightmare on Elm Street 3 for $7 !

Yeah, Labyrinth 'twas a rather neat movie. Bowie rocks!
Ã,  Ã, I also remember having the Labyrinth Video Game for the 'olÃ,  C=64 computer.
I thought at the time it was "one of the coolest games" (it was an "adventure" style game. "LucasArts" first "Adventure" game.), but really it seemed to be a huge never-ending maze. I always seemed to be lost and I never did manage to finish the game.Ã,

Hey cool, found a wiki-link about it:

The Last Unicorn was, together with Nausica and Secret of NIMH and Land Before Time, one of the films I remember most fondly from my childhood. And if I had seen Watership Down when I was a kid, it'd have been in the list. The music is wonderful, ayuh.

Is the 3D remake still happening, anyone knows? Those unicorn screenies were gorgeous.

I've never heard of this 3d remake. Sounds interesting.

I see we've started sort of a discussion of childrens movies.

I saw NIMH when i was very young and really enjoyed it. Then in elementary school I read the book and it became one of my all time favorite books. Land Before Time 1-389275489326589 i've seen too.

NIMH was good. I graduated with a chick that looked EXACTLY like Mrs. Brisby (only...without the whiskers or fur or mouse ears...she was a human okay? she just looked like a mouse).

Land Before Time was good, but pretty much every sequel just became more and more Barney (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barney_&_Friends).

Did anyone see The Hobbit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hobbit_%281977_film%29)? That was one of my favorite movies as a kid.

Also, mentioned in Rui's thread I noticed (while quickly scrolling through to see the date of the last post ;)) The Goonies and Innerspace mentioned. Both good movies as well.

Oh, I didn't mention the sequels because there are no sequels. I haven't seen them and I negate their existence. They happen to have a number after their title, which also happens to be Land of Time, but they are not sequels. Good God, no.

Well Merchant did make reference to the 389275489326589 movies by the same title, but yes, I agree that they shouldn't be considered sequels. Just pretending they're not even there is probably the safest course of action. :)
